Drop by Golden Mile Tower for value-for-money, no-frills Peranakan grub. Have their Assam Pedas ($3-4 per portion) to share — think tender sea bream in a tangy, rich gravy. Another stunner is their succulent and juicy Kecap Wings ($2). Add a dollar to switch white rice to their aromatic blue pea nasi lemak rice. Pro-tip: Elevate your meal and add buah keluak to your rice for an additional $2.50!

With all these dishes (3 meat, 1 fish & 1 veg) it cost us around $5-6 each — shared among 4 friends. And my favourite got to be Kicap Manis Chicken Wing ($2) hands down. It is sweet and savoury, and also the meat is so so so tender. Just talking about it now makes me hungry all over again 😩

Always love anything kecap manis so this was an obvious choice, and a great choice! Meat was tender and the soy sauce covering it was just a simply great combo of savoury and sweeeet!
Price: $2

Tangy appetising thick gravy! All you want in Assam- flavoured dishes. Also the fish was not at all fishy. It was nice and flaky :)

Tucked away in Golden Mile Tower, this cai png stall sells cheap but satisfying Nyonya dishes. Most diners here pick their own dishes cai png style, but we decided to order dishes to share instead. The assam fish is a great choice for that tangy, rich gravy. I also enjoyed their kicap manis chicken wings. Price ranges from about $3-5/pax.

Blue Pea Nasi Lemak - the nasi lemak was savoury, fragrant, and carried a distinct fragrance of coconut.
