There was an Okada Coffee in Tanjong Pagar a few years back and I assumed this was the same concept when I saw this on the menu.

Unfortunately, the fluffy bread cubes weren't browned on the edges enough that the needed contrast of crispy edges against fluffy insides and soft apple pieces was sadly missing.

You get exactly what you expect with this dish and for the price it's hard to complain. Soft and moist hamburg patty with a spoonful of demiglace sauce underneath a sunny side up, served with a goma dressed-salad and rice.

While it comes with a side of warabi mochi, it's still a little pricey compared to most items on the menu – even the Original Maccha costs $9.60. It's great that it's freshly whisked upon every order but I was hoping for a more intense green tea kick. I like that it was served unsweetened, then you can tweak the sweetness with the sugar syrup to your liking.

Easy to drink black coffee – a good alternative if you're not in the mood for matcha or houjicha.

p.s. It's pretty easy to miss this cafe as it looks more like a retail shop, with coffee gadgets on one side and some art work displayed on the walls, plus some ceramics and tea making paraphernalia in another corner. They have a selection of baked goods and fluffy bread loaves for sale too.

Spacious Japanese coffee shop in Joo Chiat with nice ambiance. They serve a variety of home made Japanese cakes and even roast their own coffee.

My matcha float was made entirely from scratch, which was quite impressive.

Definitely coming back.
