Red tea jelly and longan shaved ice. Uncle poured lots of evaporated milk in in front of me😂. The addition of evaporated milk makes this taste like milk tea! They are also really generous with the ingredients. A good alternative to Teh Peng or cold drinks next time one is in the hot hawker centre.

Xiang Ji’s lor mee was quite delicious, with a tasty sauce. I particularly liked the ngoh hiang and fried fish, and the generous dollop of garlic. Even though the sauce was a little thick, it wasn’t goopy and thinned our with the addition of the vinegar.

The ccf was soft and chewy, I’m glad that there is hk style ccf in hawker centres! They were drenched in a savoury sauce that wasn’t too salty. We got the prawn and the charsiew, and I personally prefer the charsiew ones :) Be prepared for long queues though!

A chinese version of satay... its succulent and meaty... Minimum 10 sticks per order but u can random with pork or chicken. The other great thing is that it operates till late night and it can be pretty convenient to visit the stall.

Spoilt for choice at Old Airport Road Food Centre and looking for a new stall to try? Try Xiang Ji Lor Mee (01-81) which is the other popular lor mee stall here. It’s opened by a former staff of the famous Xin Mei Xiang so the similarities are there.

Portions are available at $3/4/5/6. The starchy gravy here is thick and consistent which I prefer unlike some versions that become watery like a braised soup after a few spoonfuls. I opted for flat yellow noodles as that’s my personal choice. Of course, bee hoon and kway teow are also on offer.

And what I like about this is the generous serving of ingredients they put in this bowl. For $5, there was a lot of crispy fried fish, braised pork belly, ngoh hiang and a hard boiled egg. I like how there’s lots of chilli (sambal belachan and chilli padi) and minced garlic too which added a spicy and pungent dimension to the dish.

𝗥𝗼𝗷𝗮𝗸: S$3/ S$4/ S$5. While waiting for my food, I see most of the customers ordering the 𝗕𝗕𝗤 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 (S$2/ piece) as the add on item to the Rojak...it smells good, and I shall order it next time!
