The soft, slightly bouncy fishballs are very fresh, and it's the perfect accompaniment to the meepok tossed in a mixture of chilli, chai poh, scallion oil and vinegar. Expect longer waiting time if you're there after 10am

Chanced upon a really long queue at Hua Ji XO Fish Head Bee Hoon stall so we decided to give it a shot!

After queuing for 45 minutes with increasing expectations by the minute, I was left disappointed 😕. I personally feel that the broth didn’t have much dimensions of flavour and was slightly too milky. Piled up with chunks of fish head, most of them were just merely bones...

WAITING TIME: Less than 5 minutes on a weekday at 10PM

- Love the flavourful soup. Finished every drop. It's not the milky kind. Doesn't seem to have much MSG, if at all - Didn't feel thirsty after.
- Generous with the fresh fish slices

Like the texture of the Hokkein Mee with a very good mix of both the beehoon and yellow noodles. It’s the soggy type which I usually avoid but this one was not overwhelming. Be warned that the chili is super spicy. But overall, a good plate of Hokkein mee.

Although Old Airport Road Food Center draws the food crowd, many new stalls are not able to withstand the competition of the famous stalls, often closing down soon after as a result. However, this new kid of the block seems to be doing well despite the competition, often having a queue for its food. Hence, we decided to give it a try.

A plate of noodles costs $3.50 and $4.50 for the upsized version. The serving is pretty small even for the upsized version. However, they made it up with the quality wanton they use (it has prawn bits in it!) and the noddles is perfectly cooked.
