The filling is yam. I had never met sesame balls that weren't peanut or bean paste. It's even more mysterious it didn't have a name tag and was separate from other snacks haha. Filling was like orh nee, which made the experience very different from peanut and bean paste.

Basically kaya toast, but encased in a deep-fried pastry. Amazing. If you thought kaya toast was a perfect food, you didn't know its potential.
