Basically kaya toast, but encased in a deep-fried pastry. Amazing. If you thought kaya toast was a perfect food, you didn't know its potential.

Old Chang Kee has zhng-ed up the traditional Singaporean breakfast of Kaya toast and made it into a pastry. If you’re looking for something traditional and sinfully good, this is what you were looking for.

Unlike their regular puffs, the Kaya Butter’O is rectangular and flat. It’s also cheaper than the other puffs as it goes for $1.40 per piece - makes sense since there’s no meat in it.

One bite into this buttery and crispy puff sent me straight to Kaya heaven. I managed to get the puff while it was still relatively hot, and that likely elevated the whole experience. I feel that the puff pastry is a little more buttery and crisp than the pastry used for their savoury puffs. The warm kaya filling is fragrant and sweet, but the sweetness is easily offset by the puff pastry and eating them together gives you just the right degree of sweetness. It was a struggle not to mindlessly munch and finish the whole puff in a few mouthfuls as the puff was truly addictive. Definitely gotta get me some more of these!

1.60$ for noodles
Total added to 3$+ w egg and tea
Yummy and worth it!
