✨Old Street Bak Kut Teh 🇸🇬✨⁣

Was craving some peppery BKT, so we decided to eat at @oldstreetbkt at their kallang wave mall outlet. ☺️☺️⁣

Staff was v friendly and often came to refill our soup bowls. Ordered a set meal B ($18.80) + a bowl of small pork ribs ($8.60) Set B comes with a bowl of premium ribs, youtiao, bowl of beancurd + a bowl of rice. ⁣

Soup was peppery and quite shiok to drink. 👍🏻 Add some chilli padi on your own into the soup if you want an extra kick. 🤤🤪 The meat was pretty tender and quite easy to peel off. 🙌🏻⁣

I used to visit the old street at Westgate pretty often in the past until I realized that the cook quite inconsistent, sometimes the meat would be v tender, sometimes hard as rock. 😳⁣

I’ll def come back to the KWM outlet again to see if the meat is still tender. 😌🤤🤤🔥⁣

🍽 is at Kallang Wave Mall, ⁣

Review of the outlet at Tiong Bahru Plaza. This is the place to go to if only a few members of your group want to eat bak kut teh. Impressively long menu. In addition to pork rib BKT, they also have dry bak kut teh, frog bak kut teh, chilli frog leg, kampung chicken, assam fish head, etc. The BKT soup isn’t the best in town, but it’s not bad. Prices are reasonable, and the service staff roam the room regularly to add soup on demand.

Dry Bak Kut Teh ($8)
.
Awesome caramelization in this bowl of dry version BKT @oldstreetbkt . Glad to have tried this instead of ordering the usual soup set. Slightly sticky, mildly spicy and viscous gravy that went so well with the rice. There was both pork belly and pork rib pieces in the claypot. Dipping our youtiao side into the gravy was also simply delicious.

This is my first time trying the dry Bak Kut Teh, and I am really impressed by the sauce that coats around the meat. It is really savory and yet really fragrant, hence a great sauce to accompany with rice! The chilli frog legs were amazing as well, as it was really tender and flavourful at the same time. We also ordered a plate of clams which were SUPER fresh!

The Dry Bak Kut Teh.
