I’ve been frequenting omote (previously Sushiro) since its opening, and their bara chirashi is consistently good and very value for money. They’ve upped prices in the few years since its opening, but I’d still say it’s very worth it. We had the upsized bowl so it’s larger than the regular, I’d recommend this size if you’re hungry!

It is an understatement to say that Singapore’s F&B industry is like a war zone. From a humble counter store tucked in the corner (size of a mini Yakun outlet) to a medium size Japanese dining outlet and finally growing into a casual Japanese dining restaurant, Omote has grown so much. It used to be called Sushiro. Omote still plays the same 1990s techno music, which previously existed in both outlets. Me and my partner has visited and supported them during every stage of their business growth. We had so much memories seating and squeezing in the previous two outlets’ counter seats. The quality of the food has improved. However, the price of Omote’s food has also gone up. Omote offers a wider selection of food and a higher quality choice of sashimi selection. I hope that Omote does not rest on it’s laurels and continue to shine and deliver consistently good casual Japanese food. From the food stalls in neighbourhood shopping malls to so called Japanese food franchises, you get to see so much crappy and disappointing Chiraishi Don all over Singapore now. Anyone who has been to Japan will know that the quality of Japanese food in Singapore can never match up to the standards in Japan. I am proud to say that Omote delivers a far higher standard compared to the rest of it’s competitors in Singapore.

Salmon carpaccio was good and the onsen tamago was alright.
Omote-chirashi don is made up of salmon, tuna, prawn and octopus along with sesame sauce. The taste sauce was not too heavy but for non sesame fans you might wanna avoid this. They said that the prawn and octopus is not changeable so I had to order the salmon belly ikura don to avoid them.
The sauce for the salmon belly ikura don is very mild and for the rice, it’s kind of plain so I don’t really recommend it.
Omote-chirashi don is the must try here. Value for money!
