With all my friends raving about Omote to me, I finally made my way over to give it a try.

I ordered the Umami Soy Chirashi ($19.80) which may look like a small bowl, but is packed full of seafood ingredients under a bed of lovely well marinated rice. From salmon to tuna to octopus, all chopped sashimi were very quite thick, fresh and all drenched in the umami soya sauce. The sauce is very flavourful and is both sweet and savoury. To be honest, as much as the sauce was great, I wished I had ordered it without as the strong flavours might have overpowered the fresh seafood taste of the lovely ingredients. Nonetheless, it was still an extremely enjoyable bowl and I wiped it clean.

I also added on the premium set ($8.80) which came with a plethora of dishes from chawamushi to salmon sashimi to various appetisers. All were well executed, and I was really spoilt for choice on what my next bite should be.

Another worthy mention really got to be their soya sauce on the table. It is thicker than the usual ones, and I love how the umami from the sauce is intensified but yet less salty compared to the commercial ones. Pairing this with their classic Chirashi Don would be the perfect meal.

Absolutely lovely meal. A good place to treat yourself!

My pick was the 𝐒𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐊𝐔 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐈 ($𝟏𝟖.𝟖𝟎) because I wanted variety & that spicy sashimi mix which was 🤤🔥. Loved the interior & big portions too but…I would like to know what’s inside each chirashi don rather than quotes 😅

Had so much high hopes for this place as it’s recommended by a looot of people, but sadly, both of my visits (yes, I gave it another chance after a bad exp last 2020), were a bit disappointing

Unlike most reviews, I, thankfully, didn’t have to queue long for both of my visits. The restaurant could be unassuming from the exterior, but the place is actually huge with a mismatch of classic Jap and weirdly, techno/bar feels

Had this chirashi dish, and though it looks enticing, the pieces I got were not fresh :( it has triggered my seafood allergy (yes, it acts up whenever I have not-so-fresh seafood)

Not sure if I’ll give it another chance - maybe third time’s the charm?

My first visit to the highly raved Omote! I was surprised at how spacious the restaurant was, and how far the queue stretched. Their chirashi dressing is slightly sweet, thus the taste profile can get quite boring after awhile. Although their bowls are small, the serving is generous so a normal bowl is more than enough. The upsized order is pretty worth in value as the difference is only about a dollar.

Shabu-shabu black pork belly salad with fried shallots and roasted sesame dressing. The meat was so soft and tender which goes very well with the refreshing lettuce and onions. The addition of fried shallots added more flavour and fragrance to it. Overall, it is a refreshing appetiser to start off the meal 》$16.80
