Reviews of good food at OMU

Mentaiko sauce, curry chicken cutlet, cream based and tomato cream fried fish.

The red miso sauce was a tad salty and the omurice was done alright (but nothing fantastic to scream about!). Had to share the pork cutlets with the dining partners as the nagoya-style red miso sauce came with the pork katsu (they didn't have the option to go without!).

Finally hopped on the hype on Omurice and boy I must say, wasn't regretting it one bit. With an additional top-up of $2, I chose my egg to be "lava style", which resulted my omu to be silky and flowy. The combination of the omu with the tomato rice pretty good. However the beef burger patty was a little too tough for my liking. The demiglaze sauce was a tad bit on the salty side of the flavour spectrum.

I was intrigued by the lava egg after watching a viral video of a Japanese chef cooking this, and it’s just nice that Singapore has a restaurant that specialises in Omu rice. I wouldn’t really recommend this though, the curry was rather diluted and lacking the thick Japanese curry taste. The lava egg also tasted really plain, making it just a visual gimmick for the dish 😭 Maybe I shall try the one in Japan!

Luckily we don't have to queue too long for it.

This is Demiglazed Omu with Pork Cutlet, which consists of tomato fried rice inside of the omelette with a rich brown sauce and huge pork cutlet on top! Worth a try 😊

We had one with cheese, eggplant and mushroom and another with fried Ebi, topped with a beef burger and shabu pork. Almost everything on their menu we thought.
Among their 4 sauces available, we chose curry for a more original taste. However, their curry wasn’t really to our liking. With the saltiness, a little more spiciness would be better for a curry.
Most of the other ingredients were ok, except for the beef burger patty that was too dense and tough. We kinda concluded that perhaps those fried Katsu stuff would go well best with Japanese curry.
Last and most importantly, the signature Omu lava egg. With a top-up, you would get their lava egg that cuts open to that scrambled egg omelette. It definitely delivered in terms of the abundance of lava egg. But by the time we finished our food, both of us almost overdosed from those eggs.
Overall, Omurice wouldn’t lack in appeal, both IG-wise or from their lava egg. But individually, those elements in their dish might not be the tastiest compared to other places. Much as these eggs were good, they would probably keep us away for quite sometime.

The cream sauce was light & the hayashi sauce was yummy 😋 A very well balanced mix to have best of both worlds 😇 The menu offers a wide variety of choices & all the sauces look sooo good! Definitely need return trips to get a taste of other mouth watering sauces like tomato, mentaiko, demiglace, curry etc.

💮Ichiban💮1️⃣ Sho oishii~~😋☺️😊 A serving of 🍅🍚 tucked underneath a Lava runny egg 🍳 floating amidst 🌊🌊 of ⚪️.5 Cream sauce & ⚫️.5 Hoyashi sauce (beef demi glace) Waa Sugoi ne! 🌟✨✨$12.80 excl. GST 😊☺️😋😍

First time trying the lava style omelette rice and it was not too bad, really enjoyed the thrill of seeing the omelette explode with all the yolk blanketing my tomato rice. The egg was silky smooth and the rice was really soft, it was a great meal but I feel as though the portion is too small as both me and my Friend were hungry afterwards.

The dish is just omurice ($13.80). We added the shabu shabu pork (+$3). The shabu shabu pork was bland. The mentaiko sauce wasn't a wow factor.

People already queue before their opening time, thought the hype have kinda died down lel. Tried the limited okonomiyaki. Nice fried rice, creamy silky omelette, katsubuoshi and sauce gives okonomiyaki feel but should probably ordered additional meat 4.25/5

Okonomiyaki Omurice - $13.80

For a limited time only till 31 March, you get to try out the unique okonomiyaki omu rice, and inside the rice it contains shabu pork and cabbage pieces which makes the experience a taste closer to eating an okonomiyaki other than being an rice item. The sauce was complementing and bonito flakes are a must for any okonomiyaki like dishes. Overall a very nice experience, can consider adding a side for sharing
