if you're at kombi, take a walk over to OTGHouse! small cafe hidden in an estate, serves up ice cream, waffles, cake etc. they have this TIM TAM flavor that my friend was in love with :)

This new cafe pop up somewhere along yio chu kang road. Their mains changed everyday and do not have a fixed menu, but they have waffles and ice cream as well as coffee everyday! The owner aim to have different menu everyday to keep customer coming back for more. I greatly recommend their coffee and ice cream. Ice cream are all HOME MADE and they are really firm! Similarly, their coffee tasted really good just that it comes with a acidic taste. Depending on personal preference, I really like the coffee there except for the acidic taste due to the choice of beans. The ambience there was really great, a very small shop with very clean interior. Worth the try. :)

With the third wave coffee movement happening all around Singapore, cafe food had somewhat turned repetitive and tiring for almost everyone is selling the same stuff. Not OTG Coffee however; this Serangoon cafe not only serves ice-cream and waffles, but also serve pretty decent toasts that feels pretty homely yet satisfying despite its simple execution. Still hungry? Grab a cake which is baked in-house for a dessert; the Sugee Cake especially is a hard find these days especially with such quality. Their coffee is also pretty robust for a non-hipster joint. Pretty homely space and food with sincere service that I would like to be back again for.

OTGHouse may not be a hipster cafe, but that does not mean its coffee is not up to mark; in fact the robust nutty flavour was evident even compared to several cafes I have went to of the late!

It's really simple breakfasts like these that turns me on. The crisp toast has sesame seeds on them, adding to the crunch factor as well as adding a sesame fragrance into the dish. Spread atop the toast seems to be garlic spread, cheese and capsicums and a bit of pepper, which gave it a fresh and strong tinge of spiciness which it was not shy off. On the side were two wobbly sunny side ups that burst with a single touch of the fork. Simple yet satiating treat for the soul!

Sugee Cake are quite a rare find now, and nicer ones are even harder to find. This one pays a lot of tribute to the traditional Eurasian taste; heavy on marzipan yet remaining light tasting. Always in love with cakes that has a honey lemon drizzle atop; that zingy flavour is just addictive!
