Last couple of days to pick up this pho-nomenal sub at @parkbenchdeli’s pop-up at @sugarfin.sg! A crazy thiccc layer of shaved roast beef with the signature flavours of Vietnamese cuisine in that crunchy herb salad in a crusty French roll; all to be dunked into this slick, rich pho dip. Now, better hold on to your buns a little tighter than us, or you’ll end up in the pho splash zone, but that didn’t detract from how dam tasty this whole ensemble is.

We all know PBD whips up stellar ones so I can’t say I was expecting any less, but I didn’t think I’d be THIS in love with their Pho French Dip ($18) special at their Sugarfin pop-up 🤤 Literally took my first bite and swooned. SO 👏🏻 BLOODY 👏🏻 GOOD 👏🏻 Let me try to explain this coherently: a generous stack of shaved roast beef + a crunchy herb salad + mayo, sandwiches in a fluffy French roll, served with a rich pho broth on the side. What really made this sandwich for me were the herb salad and broth. Now that pho broth’s soooo packed with flavour. Yknow the soup at the base of your stockpot, that’s collected all the meaty sediments, mushy veggies, and flavour? This broth is basically it. I’m not too sure what exactly was in that herb salad, but there was definitely beansprouts, coriander, and what I thought was morning glory. Fabulous crunch, super refreshing, and cuts through richness of the broth as well as the saltiness from the roast beef. Imho that herb salad really lifted the whole dish. If anything, I’d wish for a crustier French roll that’d better hold up to all that dunking.

Maybe because I grew up eating Subway, I found this quite overpriced.

Would sing praises for the super creamy burrata but the overly salty prosciutto & rock-hard bread (literally got tired of cutting it💀) made me wonder if my wallet-friendly Sub would satisfy just as much.

PBJ-STUFFED FRENCH TOAST ($16)

I really liked the almond hazelnut butter used in place of standard pb! Think ferrero rocher in liquid form🤩

Only wished there was more spread, esp the jam, to go with the brûléed brioche, which could have been more eggy coz you know frEnch tOAst

Hot Fried Chicken ($16)
Not the fluffiest of buns but everything else was really good! From the thick slab of tender chicken thigh🍗 to the chili aioli & slaw, I enjoyed every mouthful!

As a self-proclaimed Reuben connoisseur, this pastrami Reuben was done just right. I’ve had so many in my lifetime and PBD had just the right ratio of pastrami, coleslaw, cheese, mustard, and rye.

The brisket pastrami was smoked in such a way that I thought I had tasted bacon, and who doesn’t love their bacon? Great choice for a meal if I’m ever craving a hearty American sandwich.
