Ordered beef short ribs (35.9++) and king prawn and scallop pasta (33.9++)

Beef short ribs came with mashed potato, some vegetable and baguette~ I was initially afraid that the meat will be dry but it came out as tender and the tendons are quite chewy. Taste is flavourful as well! But the baguette was too hard. Would have preferred for it to be just lightly toasted.

For king prawn and scallop pasta, the prawns were either not fresh/over cooked as certain bites were mushy, definitely not the texture i would expect from king prawn... the aglio olio was too bland for me as well. Could taste the garlic taste below but would require a good mix. Added some black pepper to elevate the taste and it tasted much better.

Tried out the nosh at Paul Cafe the other day. Didn’t realise that they sold mains and breakfast items apart from their usual bakes! Had the cod fish and was pretty impressed — cod was fork-tender and melted away in our mouths. Also like the cream sauce it was paired with which really complemented the buttery texture of the fish. Ambience was pretty nice too, super chill vibes.

My first experience with this cake was when I did a recorded tasting called Tastemakers Try with Burpple. Since then, I fell in love with the Chocolate Pear Bavaroise Log Cake (S$62.00) for its rich chocolate flavours, with chunks of pear and pear bavaroise from within.

I liked it when the dark chocolate ganache and milk chocolate mousse met halfway for both richness and sweetness. On top of that, there were pieces of “golden coins” made of white chocolate and airbrushed for a hint of luxury. Who would say “no” to more chocolate in their dessert anyway?

Most would have expected that Christmas log cakes should usually be creamy or chocolatey. However, the Yuzu Meringue Log (S$60.00) was surprisingly a wonderful add to a party or gathering, especially after a hearty dinner.

Made with layers of lemon curd, lemon buttercream, yuzu marmalade, joconde sponge and coated with meringue, the citric flavours was perfect to cleanse the palate and create the refreshing feel on the taste buds. The different textures also created a good balance between richness and airiness.

With a slightly caramelised exterior, the log cake also had sugar ornaments and white chocolate crisps and candied orange peel decorations to make it pleasing to look as well.

Fancy some toast for brunch? Here’s something that you ought to try at @paulbakerysg! 😊 Despite looking like a plain Jane, this promises so much more! 💯
It is of no wonder why this Croque Monsieur ($15.90++) is such a popular item on their menu - just who doesn’t like the classic combination of ham & cheese! 🤩 PAUL takes it a notch by making it a premium rendition! ✔
Featuring toasted pain de mie with turkey ham 🍖, emmental cheese 🧀 & cream, topped with a fried egg, this was simply heavenly! Crisp on the outside while being creamy & soft inside, this makes a comforting meal! 😋 Served with mixed greens for a refreshing touch & crunch. 🥬
Give it a try & let me know if you like it as much as I do! 👍🏻

Super value for money weekday lunch set in the orchard area! Especially hard to find affordable lunch places around Tanglin. Surprised to find this deal at Paul (as it looks very expensive haha) but for seafood and a amazing slice of chocolate cake, it’s really worth! And serve fast for people on a rush👍
