Although some of the dishes have been modified to suit Singaporeans, Penang Street is still a good place to sample Penang cuisine with a wide variety of foods. Please read my review at www.hungryghost.sg

We really wanted to try the Chendol here but got too carried away by the Black Glutinous Rice with Coconut Milk instead because it's been a rather long time since we had one. No regrets though; the Black Glutinous Rice was gooey and had a good balance of sweetness within, so it turns really creamy with a whiff of coconut when the coconut milk gets stirred in. This rendition apparently got my parents approval, whom both claimed that it's full of nostalgic flavour of what they tasted from their childhood. Definitely enjoyed this bowl of hot dessert and it was finished even though we were all rather filled by the other dishes earlier!

Despite being rather liquid, the coconut milk was rather strong in flavour and we could even taste the flavours of sweet potato being absorbed into the coconut milk. We missed the clumpy bits of flour in this one however, which got replaced by sago bits instead.

Was rather satisfying, but this seemed to be of a lighter variant than what others serve out there. We could not deny that the sauce was tasty with savoury-sweet flavours, but it was missing of that thick and sticky consistency that we are used to have elsewhere. Nonetheless the baby squid was really crisp and delectable, though some were a bit too huge as well.

Fried Rice with Fried Egg, seafood (we requested no squids, and apparently they served us with chicken) fried with prawn paste. Pretty delicious for how consistent the flavours were throughout the whole plate, and rather flavourful as well.

Literally one of the most tender and flavourful chicken Satays we ever had, each stick was full of meat that did not carry the usual firmness of chicken meat and even had bits to replicate pork fat in pork Satays. The marination was sweet yet smoky, though the sauce was a bit of a letdown for the pineapple purée was a tad too sour. Still, the satay sticks were good to have on their own, and needless to say they were finished in no time.
