food:
i admit that i am no master of mediterranean food — this is my 2nd time eating this type of food. however, everyone knows once they have come across good food. good food makes you happy, makes you crave more, makes you so incredibly immersed in the experience of eating. and wonderful meal made me feel all the above. what was included in this mix was: tender beef kebab, savoury chicken kebab and umami-filled lamb chops, along side fragrant saffron rice (not pictured) with cashews and refreshing fresh vegetables. we were recommended to start with the lamb and the beef so it would not become dry, and it was so tender and savoury. it was extremely flavourful and i enjoyed every single bite i had. it was unlike any food i had eaten before. i'm usually one to shy away from any extra rice, however, the rice was fragrant and smooth, in addition to that extra contrast of the cashew, that made it so addictive. i left this place feeling satisfied and happy, a feeling i haven't gotten from a meal in a long time.

service:
the waiter was really friendly and gave us good advice! nothing to take note of regarding the service, they are all incredibly friendly and polite! thank you <3

overall:
my budget's usually tight, and this place may burn your pockets a little. however, i would definitely recommend coming here!

(other things ordered: pita bread [$5], baba ghannoush (aubergine dip) [$8])

We can't visit a grill without trying their grilled meats right? 😜

For $48, you get @pistachiogrill house speciality combo platter which features beef kebab, lamp chops and chicken kebab, served over saffron rice and condiments.

The meats are served in metal skewers and hung on a metal rack literally over the saffron rice. The oils from the grilled meats lend their flavours to the light and fluffy basmati rice served with cashew nuts and raisins. Do heed the server's advice of having beef kebab and lamb chops before they dry out.

J is not a big fan of lamb usually but we love that the lamb has been delightfully marinated such that you only get a hint of the gamey aftertaste (in a good way). You can also drench the meat in the tangy sauce which accompanies dish to give it a little more flavour. I do wish they had a little more fat to the lamb chops because I do like gnawing the slightly charred fats off the bone but that's honestly just me nitpicking. The chicken kebab remains juicy at the end of the meal.

My advice is to order an extra serving of the saffron rice because it goes really well with the meats!

I have been meaning to check out @pistachiogrill for the longest time ever. Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine is a woefully under-represented cuisine (and remains so) in Singapore but it has gained in popularity in recent years.

Chef Khaled Elelimi has been in Singapore for quite some time and his food has been tweaked to suit our local palates.

We loved his garlic cheese pita bread ($10) which is in essence a combination of pide and pita. It is crisp on the outside and fluffy on the outside, and the best of all, it has two of Miss K's favourite ingredients, cheese and garlic. She could probably have this everyday.

We loved dipping the pita bread in baba gannoush, a dip made of smoked eggplant with tahini and extra virgin olive oil. The dip is silky and luxuriously creamy. Pistachio tops their baba gannoush with a dash of lemon and pomegranate which serves to accentuate the smokey and earthy undertone of the roasted eggplant.

Let's just say this is making me regret (even more) not choosing Pistachio for my office lunch!

Conveniently located in Wheelock Place, Pistachio Grill doles out seriously delicious Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare. Burppler Kelly Wong describes the juicy, olive oil-marinated Shish Taouk ($17.90) with saffron basmati rice to be one of the best she's ever had. Order also the addictive Hummus Kawerma ($9.90, topped with minced beef) to share.

If you’re going to order this, i’d say eat the chicken last because it’ll make everything else pale in comparison

Each chicken thigh was so well marinated, with each bite just bursting with flavour. Not to mention the juiciness of each chicken piece of chicken thigh.and each piece also had a good amount of sear on the side to give it that smoky taste.

Your order will also come with beef kebabs and lamb kebabs, but you’ll forget about them once you eat the chicken.
