Plain Vanilla Bakery was borne of an earnest desire for some good old-fashioned cake. We’ll make no bones about how we love our European pastries – give us some cream-filled choux pastry and we’ll happily wolf it down. But there are days when all we want is cake. A slice of warm apple pound cake drizzled with caramel; tall layers of light sponge cake and buttercream; or just three or four mouthfuls of a cupcake smothered in enough frosting leftover for licks when the cake’s all gone. So we’ve taken it upon ourselves to bring it back to basics. We take what our grandmothers and mothers were made of and we make it even better. We’re talking childhood-reminiscent flavours made from seasonal ingredients worthy of a home kitchen, only the treats are scrummier and more comforting than you remember. We’ve all felt that warm fuzziness – stirring in the hours of late morning to the wafting scent of freshly baked butter sponge, or quietly traipsing to the kitchen fridge at midnight when the tummy rumbles for that last slice of pound cake. Remember all that simple goodness? That’s what you’ll find with us.

💬: Had my doubts about these, but they were so cute I couldn't resist and I'm glad I didn't because these little baby muffins were so good!!!!!!
The muffin bites were dense (but not overly so) and buttery - pair that with the fragrant cinnamon sugar and it was 🥰🥰🥰

very lemony and smooth, but my colleagues and I found the eggy taste too overpowering at times, so if you hate that, get a cupcake instead!

At $4.50/piece, this is definitely not cheap. However, the incredibly huge size and premium quality ingredients definitely justify the premium price point. The vanilla malt custard was filled with sexy black pods. There was a thicccc dollop of custard within the doughnut, with a dough-to-custard ratio of 3-7 (yes, extremely custardyyy!!) it’s topped with a tiny vanilla biscuit, similar to the ones you find on their vanilla bean cupcakes!

One of those cupcakes that you swore you were only gonna have one more bite, but end up eating the whole thing. PVB’s 𝙈𝙞𝙡𝙠 𝘾𝙝𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙯𝙚𝙡𝙣𝙪𝙩 (~$4.20) still tasted damn good after 2 days, and I’m not sure what kinda black magic is this.🧁

Hazelnut icing sugar atop the moist cocoa cupcake didn’t take the thin grainy frosting texture of typical cupcakes, but rather a dense form. I’m the type of person that ditches frosting, but not here: it’s THAT good. 😝

the cupcakes here are always good and better than twelve cupcakes! the salted caramel tart is super smooth and thick - great for both chocolate and caramel lovers

I was expecting a much sour taste but it wasn’t. It is actually a black tea with mixed summer berries, rather an unsweetened tea.
