This place offers a large variety of flavors - from the traditional such as peanut, green bean to the less seen (pineapple, durian). I loved how soft the skin was across all the flavors I tried. Pictured here: Peanut, Coconut, Red Bean and Yam (all flavors $1.10 each).

A small soft sticky round/oval pastry with a sweet filling in the centre. It is commonly filled with peanut or green bean. Why is it call red tortoise cake? It is molded to resemble a tortoise shell and rest on a square piece of banana leaf. There is a traditional belief that if you eat tortoises, it will bring longevity, good fortune and prosperity.

Featuring the Ang Ku Kueh from Poh Cheu! I love the soft sticky chewy skin. The fine peanut filling was very fragrant and not overly sweet. They also have other flavours like Green Bean, Salted Bean (Non-vegetarian), Yam, Black Sesame, Red Bean Mango, Green Tea, Durian, Coffee, Pineapple and Coconut. Cool so many flavours to cater to everyone preferences. Haha I am still a peanut lover though. 😊

Green bean has always been my top choice of angkukueh (akk) flavour. The one at Poh Cheu wasn't fragrant enuff to get my hooked. BUTBUTBUT..

THE PEANUT ONE BLEW ME AWAYYYY &HAD ME COMING BACK ROUNDS AND ROUNDS FOR MORE!

The peanut is not grinded till too powdery, still retaining that crunch. With a good mix of sugar, it's fragrant and mildly sweet. The generous chunk of stuffings wrapped in the slightly chewy skin. Oh, sooo goooood. There's always a queue when I'm there. So I'll always get a box or two, to make my wait more worthwhile!

Ang Ku Kueh, each cost about $1.50. These Ang ku kueh are all purely handmade, you can see a few aunties making it in the shop. We really love the skin, it’s so thin, has a Q Q texture.. Apart from the traditional flavours, peanut, green bean, they have all kinds of flavours from mango, coffee, green tea, yam to durian! (Swipe left to the last pic to see all their flavours). These are some of our favourite! @pohcheukitchen #hungryunicornsg #pohcheu #pohcheusoonkuehandangkukueh #angkukueh #traditionalkueh

It’s so hard to find abacus seeds nowadays 😭 love this traditional dish ❤️
