Taking pride in the ingredients they use is a priority at Poppies- as it writes on their chalkboard in the neon lighted retro restaurant space. I love the transparency when highlighting where their ingredients are sourced from; just one of the many examples- fish is mainly from Billingsgate Market a well know seafood market in London know for its quality produce.
So I didn’t really mind paying a large fish & chips for £16++ good to share between my mum and I.
Freshly fried cod fish that had a unique texture unlike the melt in your mouth cod we(/I) might be used to in Singapore; paired with legendary chips- where every bite made me think “these are some real potatoes they’ve got here”, consistently.
P.S: I also gave in to the temptation to wash down all that greasy goodness with their in house pale ale which was bitterly decent, coming from a beer amateur.
