Satisfying portion of Power Curry Fried Rice with crispy fried chicken karaage.
Side served signature curry which really matches the fried rice.
The fried anchovies is crispy too.
Pairing with the smooth hot brewed beverage is a must.
Not bad indeed.

Taking over the space of the now-defunct To-gather Cafe, @powercoffeehousesg is a neighbourhood cafe-tiam (cafe + kopitiam) that serves breakfast sets and Asian delights with a slight twist. And guess what? They also offer classic kopis and tehs with a modern twist, simply by using a special artisanal espresso machine.

👉Laksa Hokkien Mee - SGD8.90
👉POWER Nasi Goreng - SGD8.90
With Stir-fried Prawns & 63°C Sous Vide Egg
👉POWER Kopi Latte - SGD3.50
👉Cold Brew Lychee Tea - SGD3.50

Special mention goes out to their Laksa Hokkien Mee, which was surprisingly hearty and delicious. Came with 3 fresh semi-peeled prawns, deep-fried omelette, taupok, fishcake slices and shredded cucumber at the top, everything just came together in harmony when soaked into their mildly spicy & coconutty laksa broth.

As for their POWER Kopi Latte, it was definitely not as impressive as the one I had from Kopi More at Golden Mile Food Centre. His traditional Nanyang coffee is a must-have when you’re at GMFC!

Cool family-friendly cafe with homey vibes, food comes served in a timely manner at the right temperature.

When you order the claypot curry chicken, you’ll get to choose between a side of bread or rice. I’ll recommend the rice as the curry falls on the less spicy and lighter side of the spectrum. The curry itself is flavourful and the rice tastes warm and satisfying when drenched. You’ll find a good portion of chicken and potato in the pot. The chicken is tender and comes off the bone easily, complementing the potato which is so soft it melts a little in your mouth. A good pot of curry chicken that is definitely worth trying for the price.

Step into this homey cafe and find it filled with quaint and green decor at every corner. We ordered the laksa hokkien mee and it was served smoking hot with a cute lil’ folded box for your prawn heads. Designed to infuse a sense of nostalgia in Singaporeans, unique local dishes are prepared and renamed with a modern touch and, teh and kopi are served in traditional metal cups.

The waitress opened the pot lid and revealed uncut thick bee hoon soaked in a light coconutty laksa broth that surprisingly tasted both heavy with flavour and light in texture. It came with three medium sized fresh semi-peeled prawns, lots of taupok, fishcake slices, a deep-fried omelette and shredded cucumber at the top. The combination of ingredients in the dish came together quite nicely and it was just the right amount of spiciness for me (think 0.5 mcspicy lvl). Will definitely come back for more when I’m in the mood for a healthy portion of laksa!! Will recommend for the price 🤑🤑

The teh latte is their ‘star’ drink and for good reason. When you first read the description of power teh latte you might be a little surprised at how they describe teh bing lol but it is extremely accurate! It’s light, rich and has just the right amount of sugar to enjoy the tea itself. Not as nutty as I’d like but it was a really enjoyable cup of teh bing. The kind of tea leaves they used tasted more like red tea instead of black tea (i.e a lot lighter on the palate). [$4]

The cafe latte is quite surprising also. It’s a sub standard version of Arabica’s spanish latte and i’m not complaining at all. At the time that I went, their flavour was speculoos. Hence the hint of chocolate and caramel in the coffee itself. The bitterness of the cocoa was the main taste for me and i definitely dug it. [$4.70]

overall an 8/10 for me. and i would definitely come back here again. when there’s a promo or when i can use burpple. if not, I’d really only come here if i’m craving for this particular taste and combination in a tea or coffee.

Instead of the usual classic braised pork rice, they have braised chicken rice here. Bite sized chunks of chicken slow cooked to perfection with white rice drenched in braised sauce that tasted more like teriyaki. Served with coleslaw and 63C sous vide egg.

The 2 sides we ordered are beancurd king (fish paste with beancurd skin) and ngoh hiang. Nothing special but just a casual meal in a neighbourhood.

Thanks to Burpple Beyond, we get to enjoy 2 Classic Main and Side for the price of 1 ✌ (U.P. $8.50 + $4.50 Sides)
