This dish is well executed with the hardy grains immersed in a rich seafood broth and with chunky grilled prawns. Not featured here but the other dishes, incl their grilled octopus and pork is amazing as well. Large servings for sharings, felt like an authentic experience in Spain

Fancy dinner at Praelum, with the best parts being the passion filled sharings on the wines of Spain (Rioja, Tempranillo) and a good charcuterie board with some unique meats.

Situated along the row of shops in the Duxton Hill area lies a cozy wine bar/bistro known as Praelum. It is a gathering spot for most of the sommeliers and wine lovers to enjoy delicious and hearty food served lovingly by the local chefs here and also great selection of wines that is priced affordable! Where can you find a great place to wine and dine that doesn’t hurts your wallet especially in the CBD area. The team of service staff here are all well equipped with a wealth of wine Knowledge and you can even opt for a flight of 3 or 5 depends on your taste for adventure and these people can bring you to Europe or any part of the wine producing world from the glass itself! The must try food here is a Tart Flambée which is a local dish from the Alsace region and it does have 3 combinations of flavour to choose from.. we went for the bacon, onion and egg and it’s just so well made with that salty and sweet taste and texture all in the arms of a thinly made crust! Just super addictive and a must to have when you’re in Praelum!

We got the steak, corn salad and pizza to feast with our wine and it was great 😋

I went with their Iberico Pork Shoulder which comes with mushrooms, onion-marsala marmalade & mustard jus. Though the price is on the steeper end, but their pork shoulder was cooked to perfection with such tenderness and moistness. The flavors were on point and well balanced. Even their sides were pretty amazing. Their mashed potatoes has a grainy chunky smooth texture and it’s subtly flavorful, a little creamy and buttery.

This dish was served first and honestly thought Praelum couldn’t have done better (but was promptly proven wrong). Octopus was tender with the right amount of bounce. They were delightfully sauced and charred to a smokiness that was reminiscent of char siew (in a good way). I wished they took the spice level up, perhaps a dusting of paprika or a really mean sambal. Still an amazing start to a great dinner at Praelum.
