Located at Duxton Hill is a restaurant that prawn-mise to be wild and provide a refreshing Asian-Fusion dining experience by serving an array of prawny dishes from starters to mains, and perhaps to cocktails in the future. Like itβs name suggests, @prawnnoodlebar , majority of their menu uses prawn as a key ingredient and they infused modernity into our favourite local prawn delights.
Their signature ππ«ππ°π§ ππ¨π¨ππ₯π ($16) is a little different from the prawn noodles that we are used to. The ππ«ππ°π§ ππ¨π¨ππ₯π ππ«π² was served with a hearty bowl of Japanese ramen and paired with lightly grilled tiger prawns and rolled pork belly. The infusion of Japanese elements into our local prawn noodle dish is just so brilliantly executed that youβd appreciate the elevated elements while still enjoying a hearty bowl of our favourite prawn noodle. Its accompanying serving of prawn broth deserves a special mention of its ownπ! The unassuming bowl of soup was surprisingly packed full of sweet prawn umami-ness! After 3 long days of simmering, itβs no wonder the soup packs such bold and complex flavors!
How can we forget about Hokkien Mee when weβre talking about prawns and noodles! Another interesting twist, the ππ¨π€ π π«π’ππ ππ«ππ°π§ ππ¨π¨ππ₯ππ¬ ($15) was served with linguine and topped with grilled prawns and squid. Putting the fascination aside, I personally feel the linguine werenβt able to absorb the flavors of wok-hei and broth, which are key factors of a good plate of Hokkien Mee. But Iβve got to say, their chilli is so good that it elevates the dish with a punchπ₯!
Marinated with prawn paste, their πππ« ππ‘ππ¨π§π πππ’ ($12) was served boneless with crisp skin and boast a juicy, tender and succulent centre. It was lip-smacking goodπto dip them into the accompanying sweet-sour peanut sauce. Other sides/bar bites include πππ₯π’ππ¨π«π§π’π ππ«ππ°π§π¬ and ππ«ππ°π§ ππππ¨π¬.

Super hip prawn noodle bar with a huge variety of drinks. This is their prawn noodle soup which comes with either ramen noodles or la mian noodles. Really good!
A big plate of har cheong gai, quite value for money. Deep fried but not oily. The meat retains its moisture and is rather tender
Have to give this a try since this is a fusion style of hokkien mee. The fettuccine was al dente with only slight hint of wok. The broth reminds me of Hokkien Man Hokkien Mee. Ingredients were fresh and prawns were big. My friend had the prawn noodle soup which he said was really good
Noodles infused with PNB's signature broth, grilled tiger prawns, rolled pork belly, bean sprout, pork lard, fried shallots, special sauce with chili paste
Quite small portion, the sauce taste more sweet than spicy, the bean sprout was limp and lose the crunchy texture, and the noodles too soft for my liking. Overall the taste and quantity doesn't justify for the price.
Headed down to the recently opened Prawn Noodle Bar; a new F&B establishment which had opened its doors at Duxton Hill along the same row of shophouses where Xiao Ya Tou and Flor Patisserie are located β the establishment places a focus on serving up dishes that feature prawns as either a main ingredient, or a sub ingredient.
While most would probably either go for the Prawn Noodle Soup or Prawn Noodle Dry which is pretty much their signature items here, it was the Ebi Burger which caught my eye β the mention of a handmade Deep Fried Prawn Patty certainly captured my attention given I am one who absolutely enjoys the Ebi Rice Burger from MOS Burger for the prawn patty. The prawn patty comes all crispy on the exterior, coming coated with a breaded, golden-brown batter β the insides featuring chunky bits of prawns which carried the natural sweetness of the said ingredient which was pretty flavourful and had a good bite. Otherwise, I do feel that the burger is pretty much served on the safe side β comes with condiments such as cheddar cheese, mayo based sauce and cabbage; felt a tad boring especially given the price and how the establishment had set themselves up to be, perhaps needing a more fusion twist for a stronger impact. The accompanying fries were pretty good however; crisp and fluffy, whilst being well-seasoned with salt for flavour.
