Prego (Fairmont Singapore)

Prego is one of Singaporeโ€™s favourite Italian restaurants that offer diners an authentic Italian family style dining experience. The theme of Prego is Italian Trattoria, expressed in every aspect of the restaurant - from service style and communal dining, to dรฉcor featuring Parmesan wheels, Italian Prosciutto and sausages hanging from the awnings, to wood dining tables and carts for wine service by the glass, which gives an overall feel of a true Italian restaurant.

We Had A Staycay At Fairmont And ordered prego. This was during phase 2 (HA). Canโ€™t rmb what this was called but it has prosciutto, arugula and mozzarella. Good stuff. Would eat it again in the restaurant.

The description excited me. Soft shell crab, sea urchin oil, shredded vegetables. Its default is maccheroni but if you know me I much prefer noodle pasta so I requested the change. As you can imagine, it's quite umami lah, but too oily.

This item read "mudpie" but it was mainly kahlua ice cream. Despite its misleading title, the ice cream was thick and rich with a welcome addition of chocolate coffee beans in it.

Overall ยฎ๏ธ: 6/10 -- a pass only because of the pizzas, the great ambience, and service. However, as an Italian restaurant, I'm baffled by how their pasta and ravioli was. I really don't think it's worth the exorbitant prices here.

A bit underwhelming. The coffee was actually leaking out of the soggy finger biscuits at the bottom -- it was soaked too much liquid. The maracapone was good though.

Very tender lamb shank atop a semolina cake and lentil beans. The lamb came apart easily but was a bit dry inside. I'm also personally not a fan of semolina cake. Not that outstanding overall.

I'd typically expect contrasting flavours to counter the fishy taste of cod, but the inside of this ravioli was an unpleasantly fishy mush and there was no sauce to balance the flavours. The skin of the ravioli was also too thick -- more like a chinese dumpling rather than a delicate ravioli.
