Dry Duck Noodles ⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✨: As a whole, I enjoyed the dish. The herbal soup, I heard, is an acquired taste. A giant duck leg which was fall-apart tender accompanied my bowl of noodles. ⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣💬: My understanding is that the herbs and the duck make the dish very ‘windy’/inflammatory (很惹风) so it’s best to not have it too regularly. Also, that it isn’t half as good as it used to be 🤣⁣

Though I did enjoy this meal, I won’t find myself craving for it. ⁣

Duck leg noodles are a variation of soup noodles that is from Malaysian Hokkien Cuisine, consisting of wantan noodles, served with vegetables, bok choy and braised duck in a herbal soup. The key to this dish is the serving of tender duck leg.

The original store is located in Pun Chun, Bidor, where it gets its name from. This duck leg is usually steamed in iron containers, leaving the meat very tender and soft. The skin is also flavoured intensely from the prolonged hours of steaming. The broth is rich with angelica root which imparts a certain sweetness to the soup. Highly recommended.

The famous Bidor duck noodles is available in Kota Keumuning and Ara Damansara under the name Pun Chun Noodle House. RM7.30 (or RM8.30 for large) can get you a bowl of wantan noodles, dry or soup, with a bowl of duck drumstick soaked in a broth so rich in flavor. The best drink to have with this meal? Their wicked cup of kopi peng.
