Don’t underestimate these innocent looking baby lobsters, each one of them were filed with heat from the mala spices that will numb your senses!

Thanks Burpple & Qi Lai Feng for having me.

At Qi Lai Feng, there are two ways to enjoy fish pots, and for the dry pot the recommendation is to pair it with their Q Fish. The Q Fish (grass carp) has a texture similar to squid and is chewy and springy, certainly a refreshing change from the usual. Paired with the dried chills and peppercorns, this was a quite a spicy dish! There is even an option to add on pork bone broth midway through your dry pot and order extra hotpot ingredients for round 2!

Thanks Burpple and Qi Lai Feng for having me.

Recently attended a eatup session at Qi Lai Feng and this was easily my favourite dish that night. The pot was filled with a generous amount of fresh fish slices in a very appetising tangy broth. This would be perfect during rainy weather periods.

Thanks Burpple and Qi Lai Feng for having me.

Sauerkraut Fish Pot
After Chinatownpoint’s makeover at the basement, there’s now a wide array of new food options. One of these is @qilaifengsg which serves up a rather unique fish menu comprising their own signature grass carp nicknamed Q fish for its qq texture due to their unique feeding technique when breeding the fish. My favourite dish for the evening has got to be the sauerkraut fish pot filled with a generous serving of thinly sliced fish that doesn’t disintegrate easily, a testament to the freshness of the fish used here. The soup has a mildly spicy and tangy flavour tweaked to our local palette. For spice lovers, there’s also an option for a spicier level. Aside from this soup pot, there’s also the dry version that’s the best of both worlds for people who can’t decide. The fish pot is served dry and midway, there’s also an option to add pork bone broth and order extra hotpot ingredients for a round 2! Special mention also goes to the stir fried pork intestines. Offal lovers will love this dish done in a salt and pepper style.

These pots of soup or mala stir fry goes into the category of easy to eat (sliced boneless fish) and good for groups.
The explanation that the QQ fish were bred in specific conditions to render its firmer, defined QQ texture definitely raised my eyebrows.
But what I loved was the 酸菜 soup base that was very appetising.

Thank you Burpple and Qi Lai Feng for the kind invitation ✨

If you’re dining at @QiLaiFengSG, it’s a sin to leave without trying their famous Signature Fish Pots! 🐟 Options for their Bottom of Mandarin Duck Pot 椒香鱼锅 are as such 😍😍😍:

🔹️Mullet ($36.80/$46.80/$56.80++)
🔹️Dory Fish ($32.80/$38.80/$46.80++)

Simply top up $3++ each for Yuba (腐竹), Konjac Jelly & Enoki/Oyster Mushrooms! 🍄
The #QQMuscleFish (grass carp) was super chewy & springy, almost like a squid! 😋 Paired with the spicy dried chillies & peppercorn 🔥, this was pretty shiok! 😋😋😋
The default spice level is Less Spicy which is super manageable but feel free to upgrade to Medium Spicy or Super Spicy if you'd like to challenge yourself! 🌶🌶🌶
You can even get complimentary pork broth refill for a soup-based style! 😉 Enjoy the best of both worlds with 1 pot! ✌🏻
Also tried their Collagen Q Fish Ribs 胶原脆骨 ($10.80++) & Saliva Chicken 口水鸡 ($8.80++) 🐓, which i adored the latter for its tenderness - really got me salivating! 🤤
