Established since 1995 in Osaka, Japan, serves up time-honoured ramen known for the original ‘Taste of KIOU’ – a harmony of 3 elements (broth, chashu, noodle) made using original recipes from Japan. Part of Japan Shiok! campaign by RE&S, whereby concepts showcase ingredients direct from Japan through a series of specially-curated creations that highlights the essence of the ingredients

From the pristine waters of Hokkaido, Hokkaido Hotate (Japanese scallop) is prized for its sweet umami flavour. I still remember when I travelled to Hokkaido for vacation, I ate Hokkaido Hotate almost every day! I am excited that RAMEN.KIOU has launched the Hokkaido Scallop Series that adds natural seafood sweetness to its signature ramen, dry ramen (abura soba) and fried rice (chahan) available from now till 28 Feb 2022.
.
My order includes the Hokkaido Hotate Chashu Ramen ($17.90++) and Hokkaido Hotate Chashu Abura Soba ($16.90) which are their Signature ramen and Dry Ramen. The focus is of course the Japanese scallops which are plump, juicy and sweet with firm flesh texture! I will be back to have another bowl of this soon!

House within &Joy Dining Hall, a Japanese food court at the basement of Great World. Ramen Kiou is a popular ramen chain from Osaka.

And now we could taste their signature ramen here in Singapore.

The Torotama Kiou Ramen is a salt-based tonkotsu broth with 2pcs chashu & toro-tamago. While it is flavourful and tasty especially the broth, I do find it a bit too salty for me.

RAMEN KIOU, Popular ramen brand from Osaka established in 1995 with over 20 outlets across Japan collaborates with Kuriya Japanese Market to launch the Unagi Specials (Unagi Ramen & Unagi Chahan) available at &JOY Dining Hall (Great World & Jurong Point outlets) from 21 Sept to 30 Nov 2021.
.
What is had is their Unagi Ramen ($17.90 – Single / $23.90 – Double) features Melt-in-your-mouth Unagi with Creamy & Savoury Tonkotsu Ramen, intensely rich and unique combination. Place a small amount of wasabi directly onto the unagi to enjoy

It's still ramen don't worry, the sauce was light and slightly sweet but there's still umami, not bad at all.

Stop mixing up tonkotsu and tonkatsu, one is pork bone broth one is deep fried pork

Anyway this was not bad, in fact their shoyu tonkotsu was more umami than their pure tonkotsu.

Their pickle was very very addictive, light with a tinge of sourness and a bit of heat. Sufficiently sweet too
