I’ve always wanted to try @ramen.taisho that’s located in Maxwell Food Centre. It is quite far from my place but with Marketplace@WhyQ, I can now have the ramen delivered to me so that I can enjoy it in the comfort of my own home! How Convenient!
.

Here’s what I ordered:
🍜Shoyu Black GarlicTonkotsu Ramen Deluxe ($17.8).
🍜X.O Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen Deluxe ($18.9).
🍜Spicy Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen Deluxe ($17.8).

The ramen broth is both flavourful and light and the ramen is even packed separately from the soup so as to prevent it from becoming soggy.

Now, heres the best part, for new WhyQ users, enjoy $3.00 OFF your FIRST 2 orders on the Marketplace@WhyQ platform with the promo code ‘MARKET3OFF’. T&Cs apply

The broth plays it like a dry bar chor mee with chilli metamorphosed into soup form, while elsewhere the ramen itself possessed a texture straddling the line between mee kia and ban mian. 3.8/5

Great tasting broth, noodles done just nice. I really like the garlic flakes you can add in. For $6.80, it's great value for a good bowl of ramen.

Noodle and Chashu was good!! But remember to ask for less salty for the broth.

$8.80 (add $1 for egg), the portion consider small for me, but the soup base was tasty and milky which I personally really enjoyed it.

Ramen Taisho has found new digs at Maxwell Food Centre after closing it's only store at NTUC Foodfare The Clementi Mall, joining the leagues of the young hawkers that had been recently sprouting up at Maxwell Food Centre (PS: Lad & Dad previously at Serangoon Gardens Food Centre opens at Maxwell Food Centre today as well with a broader menu). The menu only offers three types of ramen; Standard Ramen, Ajitama Ramen and Cha Shu Ramen.

Quality is pretty consistent as what I had previously — the Tonkotsu broth is thick without being overwhelming while the Cha Shu Ramen also comes with bamboo shoots, Cha Shu, thin ramen noodles, spring onions and roasted seaweed; the egg comes as an add-on for $1 extra. The thin noodles were slurpy with a good bite; pretty springy while the Cha Shu comes without the pork stench, yet carries a light meatiness with a layer of fat at the ends for the extra chew on top of the leaner strip of meat. It's pretty decent for $8.80 ($9.80 with the egg) — a good and affordable option for those looking to get their ramen fix during lunch hour at a food centre without forking out too much.
