πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Went for dinner at @redsparrowsg located in Dempsey and was pretty much amazed at the wide variety of options that they serve. 🍴

The Banh Xeo, pancake filled with mushroom and prawns is one of my new favorite 😍

Thank you @florencesjah for tagging me along. πŸ˜€

Not putting on any PORKer face – I’ll just admit that I’m craving for this awesome PORK belly! 🀀🀀🀀
.
Thit Kho Tau ($26++), which is our Chinese’s braised pork belly equivalent, was my favourite dish at Red Sparrows. 😍😍😍 Featuring Berkshire pork belly braised to perfection in a coconut & soy sauce glaze, these glistening cubes of meat were extremely flavourful from absorbing all the essence of the marinate & sauce. The unforgiving fatty layers lent some succulence & kept the meats moist in every bite. ❀❀❀
.
Fret not if you find this dish overly heavy on the palate - the pickled papaya that sits atop the pork cubes cuts the greasiness with its tangy tones & refreshing crunch! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
.
Another of my top picks would be their Cha Gio ($16++) - honestly who can resist fried rolls! πŸ’• These were stuffed with a generous amount ofΒ  fresh crabmeat, prawns, minced pork & taro, which tasted like a really flavourful ngoh hiang! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ The accompanying tangy sweet fish sauce elevated the overall taste profile.
.
Fans of fish can also try the Ca Cuon ($15++), a zhng-up version of a typical Vietnamese rice roll that features a huge chunk of grilled snapper! 🀩The seasoning of the fish might have included some chilli padi as it carried a spicy kick surprisingly. πŸ”₯ The fermented anchovy & pineapple sauce was the main star in imparting sweet-savoury flavours to the otherwise light-tasting roll. I personally do not like the taste of fresh basil leaves & mint leaves so I pulled them out. πŸ˜…

Overall, really liking the food here at Red Sparrow! πŸ‘πŸ»

😍😍😍

If you’re like me & prefer hot soupy stuff to warm your tummies, you’ll be utterly spoilt for choice with the wide array of choices on their menu! πŸ‘πŸ» Here’s what I tried:
.
πŸ”ΉοΈPho Bo Tai ($18++): your essential bowl of beef pho! πŸ’• Featuring silky smooth fresh noodles in a hearty beef broth simmered for hours with beef bones & fresh herbs, topped with thinly sliced US chuck roll & braised beef brisket, this bowl was certainly a delight! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ Liked that the beef slices were not too tough nor chewy, & most importantly, did not carry any gamey taste at all!
.
πŸ”ΉοΈBun Cha ($21++): Vietnamese’s rendition of cold rice noodles. Especially loved the marinated pork belly - full of alluring smokiness, these fatty & succulent slices were almost mind-blowing! ❀❀❀ Wished there was more! Also really liked the flavours of the chargrilled minced Berkshire pork, which tasted like Japanese yakitori! πŸ’― Dip or drench the rice noodles in the sweet dipping sauce & enjoy the meats together with fresh herbs, cucumber, mixed greens & pickled green papaya.
.
πŸ”ΉοΈCanh Ca Thi La ($16++): looking for a soup to start off your meal or cleanse your palate? This rendition made with starfruits, tomato, homemade fish paste & dill (a green herb) is a light & refreshing one that will go with any dish. πŸ‘πŸ»

These dishes kept me feeling warm & fuzzy the entire night! 😊
