This Bun Cha is the closest in Singapore to the one I've tried in Hanoi, replete with sweet soup dip and delightfully charred pork.
Thick rice noodles in rich lobster, prawn, crab broth, with runny quail's eggs and pork to complete a hearty treat.
I was back at @redsparrowsg for a colleague's farewell lunch and we tried out a friend's recommendation --- their chargrillled beef short rib marinated in a sweet and spicy fish sauce or bo nuong.
This was amazingly good. The meat was fall of the bone tender with a nice amount of marbling. The fish sauce marinade was sweet and savoury and went really well with the deep beefy flavours of the short ribs. Needless to say, it was grilled to perfection with an excellent char.
This is simply a must-order if you ever do visit!
I have been intrigued with vietnamese food since my trip to Ho Chih Min City a couple of year ago. I love how every single dish has complex layers of flavours which combine beautifully and explodes in your mouth.
@redsparrowsg was highly recommended and it certainly did not disappoint. I really enjoyed their banh xeo, a vietnamese pancake. Banh means cake and xeo refers to the sizzling loud sound the rice batter makes when it is poured into the hot skillet. A good banh xeo is savoury, crispy and stuffed full of vegetables, fresh herbs, meat and seafood. Red Sparrow's definitely checks all the boxes.
Bun Thit Nuong is my favourite vietnamese dish and Red Sparrow did not disappoint. The cha goi is crispy and savoury and the roast pork tender, juicy and well marinated. I would have preferred a stronger fish sauce dressing though.
Red Sparrow is slightly on the pricey side but the food is really good and portions are huge. I would definitely be back!
Beef noodle with lots of thinly sliced beef belly & braised beef brisket; rice noodle is on the softer side but not too soft; sliced beef belly is a little hard but the braised beef brisket is really tender & soft; soup is flavorful with mild herbal taste; with beansprouts & onion..
Salad version noodle; cold vermicelli with greens, beansprouts, carrots, cucumbers, fried shallots & garlic; sauce at the side is mildly spicy, moderately salty, very sweet; pour the sauce in, give it a good toss & there's different dimension of taste; marinated chicken is tender with sweet & smoky taste..
