Bun is also the cheap bread type, but a bit more oily than usual. The bun is really not my thing. But I liked the filling! The red bean paste has no skin, just pure paste, and was the dense type unlike the lighter tasting Japanese anko, but I liked that it wasn’t very sweet and it didn’t feel too heavy. Actually thinking about it, I feel like it may just come from a supplier. But okay la it’s nice, unlike the low quality bread.

Bun is the typical cheap bread type, but a bit more oily than usual. It’s too “wet” for my liking. Not a fan. Filling was a bssm paste, like a red bean bao filling in terms of texture; flavour-wise it was q salty, like a tausarpiah. For some reason it wasn’t very black sesame-ish despite the colour. I didn’t hate it, but I thought the flavour was a bit strange to me.

black ssm has a bit of a strange taste. yam is overly sweetened and not pure but at this price, can’t expect much. it’s still a tasty bun. pumpkin also doesn’t taste natural but same thing - cheap thrills . bread base super good tho thin dense and chewy 😘

I felt the black sesame paste was waaay too sweet and lacked the natural, gritty texture of black sesame. I think you can definitely find better black sesame breads elsewhere.

I love the contrast between the soft, pillowy bread and the relatively thick slab of cream cheese and juicy raisins. It ranks up there with my favourite breads from Roti.

The generosity of Roti’s fillings is definitely their strong point, with this 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐧 ($𝟏) serving as the perfect testament for that.

Despite the monstrous amount of filling, the black sesame wasn’t too overpowering, BUT I would owe that to the fact that it’s not very flavourful to begin with ☹️ Tbh, the black sesame flavour just isn’t very rich, taking a backseat to the buttery taste of the bun. The texture was also a bit sandy, even though it was a paste.

With that said, I would still say that this is a decent bun! I really love black sesame and for $1, yea, I’d get it again!
