The lovely plate of barbecued seafood from the Rasa Sayang BBQ Seafood Buffet at Royale! My favourite barbecued item was probably the plump scallops, with a slightly sour, gingery sauce and minced garlic on top. Otherwise, the steak was not bad - quite tender and had a charcoal taste from the grill, although on the thinner side.

For the other dishes, I loved the creme brûlée (simple but creamy and amazingly satisfying to crack that layer of sugar) 🙌🏻 and har cheong gai wings. There are about 2 rows of local food, a table of desserts (with an ice kachang machine), a salad and chilled seafood bar and DIY Rojak station, and the highlight - the grilled seafood, which is done by a chef at an outdoor area. Overall, I felt the food was decent, but the replenishing of buffet dishes could have been done a bit more frequently.

The Rasa Sayang BBQ Seafood Buffet is available at the restaurant, Royale, in Mercure Singapore Bugis for $68++ until 9 December. It’s a bit pricy, but there is a 1 for 1 promo if you’re a UOB cardholder. Thanks @burpple for the invite and @mercuresingaporebugis for hosting us!

Rasa Sayang Seafood BBQ Buffet
From asian cuisine to fresh seafood to live BBQ station, there’s alot to offer. My personal favourite would be the DIY Rojak, Laksa and BBQ Scallops! Their BBQ beef is so tender too! Take advantage of credit card promotions for a more affordable meal. Thank you @mercuresingaporebugis for hosting and @burpple for the invite

Located at the third storey of the hotel, Royale had another run of the Rasa Sayang BBQ Seafood Buffet, which would last till 9 December 2018.

Apart from their usual range of local foods such as Laksa, Bak Kut Teh, Rojak and Prawn Paste Chicken, the highlight of the buffet would definitely be the BBQ station which was located at the small balcony area by the corner. The grilled squid and Japanese scallops with minced garlic would be the crowd favourites, among other seafood selections which were prawns and mini crawfish. To maximise the use of the BBQ counter, the flame-grilled 12-Wonder Beef they served was really juicy and succulent. Unfortunately, inclement weather set in and they brought the cooking in their kitchen, which comparatively lost smokiness from the open flames.

Nonetheless, seafood lovers could also indulge in chilled seafoods like prawns, clams and mussels. On top of that, there was also a deep fried sea bass with fruits which was quite delicious too. And for those who were already thinking about the desserts, the Durian Pengat and Yam Paste should not be missed.

On the whole, the buffet offered a variety of local flavours, but I somewhat felt that they could have invested more variety in the seafood to make the seafood BBQ buffet look more attractive (maybe with grilled oysters too?). For S$68.00 per pax, the overall spread might seem a bit lacklustre, but saving the stomach capacity for more seafood, beef and the two dessert highlights, as mentioned above, should make up for the damage.

Another limited item. It's one bag each time so two legs, and I eventually got one. Meat was very tender. Laksa flavour rather generic.

This was either the whole fish or you wait. So, because we had a big group, we took the whole fish hahaha.
