I actually dread writing about @rubicon_steakhouse for fear of the crowds that may emerge if people know how good and reasonably priced their Hokkaido steaks are.

It is not top grade A-5 beef with snow white marbling but I love the strong robust beefy melt-in-your-mouth flavours of their beef. Their tenderloin steaks are the most expensive in-house but make no mis-steak because they are the best. The steaks were perfectly cooked both times I was there. They may however consider being a little less heavy handed with the salt seasoning.

This is now my must-go steakhouse. Specially thanks to @jonathanchan333. I guess I have to find some excuse to bring @jooeunchung there soon heehee.

A group of us steak lovers went to check Rubicon out..

This place is opened by a Japanese Chef who gets his beef from Hokkaido. We ordered a 1KG sirloin / ribeye at $300. Sirloin was lovely.. crispy thin crust and juicy tender inside.. the ribeye on the other hand was alright. Felt the sides were too fatty (fattier than what we usually have for ribeyes) and some parts of the meat seemed old.

Having said that, we only have the highest standards for steak and I would still recommend this place to everyone. I will be back.

Oishii! ❤️
Juicy 100% Hokkaido Beef hamburg (100% handmade), sliced avocado, fresh green salad, fluffy rice, sunny side up & smooth steak sauce.
Lunch time only!

Didn’t enjoy this as much as we did the hamburg, only because it lacked the fattiness we’re used to in a good piece of steak. The beef itself has great flavour, although it could’ve done with better seasoning. Shame we couldn’t afford the Ribeye (prices begin at $58!).

Also comes with a sauce, which was stellar!

This was super delicious. Made with Hokkaido beef, the hamburg is cooked to a perfect medium rare (with a beautiful dark pink centre). The texture is every bit a hamburg is supposed to be - meaty and firm, but still relents upon your bite. There is the option for demi-glace or wafu sauce. We went with the former, which was excellently savoury and tangy. The chef seems to know his sauces, so I expect nothing less of the wafu either! Go for the extra cheese topping, adding a layer of rich, creamy yum on your hamburg. Also comes with fries, salad and your choice of rice or garlic bread.

The new Rubicon Steak House is a small hole-in-the-wall within Imperial Court, and it’s run by an adorably earnest Japanese duo.

The beef is incredibly juicy and soft. Must try!
