Simple, fuss free meal. Not the best nasi lemak that I’ve had but still a pretty decent meal
Wanted Mee Soto but it was sold out. This plate was charged as 1 meat + 1 Otah + 1 vege = $7. Add $0.70 for egg omelette. Egg was cold but it tasted so good with the Sambal chili, which incidentally was so spicy that I felt my hair was on fire. Otah was great, with big bits of fish inside that I could actually chew. Beef rendang, thou not exactly melt in the mouth, was flavorful and got delicious gravy. Sambal lady’s fingers were well seasoned and crunchy.
I enjoyed everything on my plate but the spicy level was beyond my ability to handle. Lumbered around panting like a zombie and my stomach bubbled in discomfort till the next day. But I don’t regret a thing.
Back here for Breakfast. Gravy is sweet with a tinge of sourness. I like this because the Mee Siam gravy is slightly thicker than usual, noodles are not soggy nor over cooked. Not hard to see understand why this is a popular dish here. Rumah sayang uses long grained rice for nasi lemak, that is worth a try too!
$5.80
The sambal goreng, veggie and black pepper sausage were all decent and the serving size was generous. The sambal belachan was a bit too sour and less spicy for me. Overall, still a nice little place to eat!
Rumah sayang is NEVER empty. These are the two popular dishes. I like the mee rebus for the sweet but not overly starchy, slightly sweet gravy & the soft yellow noodles. My mom has always been a fan of the mee siam which has a slightly sweet sauce too.
They serve a good variety of Nasi Padang dishes, you can also find various sizzling wok dishes such as fried rice, beef hor fun and nasi pattaya. Their signature item – Curry Fish Head. The spicy gravy titillates the tastebud and makes you reach out for more to drizzle over the steamed white rice. Read more: http://www.misstamchiak.com/restaurant-guide-at-jem/
