Finding a lunch place around the Tanjong Pagar area was more complicated then I thought, as most restaurants were packed with diners. Fortunately, I managed to secure a seat at Salmon Samurai rather quickly.

I ordered the Salmon Mentaiko & Chilled Citrus Ramen (S$9.90) which came with cold ramen noodles tossed in cold sauce and some sliced salmon Sashimi that were lined with Mentaiko mayonnaise before delicately finished with some flaming.

The meal felt healthy, and also somewhat hearty (probably because of the noodles), but it was also possible to select the mixed greens option to make this an absolutely healthy meal.

$9.90 for a satisfying salmon bowl !!
Today we had a usual mentaiko salmon bowl as well as their flavour of the month - Garlic aburi salmon!
If you’re not into seared salmon, you can always request for fully cooked salmon !

Rating ⭐️ : 5/5

Can we just talk about how affordable this place is?!? $9.90 for salmon rice bowls at the TP area is a REAL STEAL 😳

Never had makis topped with pork floss before so it was rly interesting. But.... I thought that the cut of salmon used for the maki could have been better tho..... It kinda felt like they used the leftover portions of the salmon to create the makis. Expected something better considering its the same price as the rice bowls but it was worth a try....

Would go back again for the mentaiko salmon but perhaps skip the poke because I thought that the marinade on the poke wasn't that prominent (couldn't rly taste anything 🤫)

Salmon poke bowl with citrus Raman and I added extra salmon sashimi for $16.40. The sashimi were fresh and big chunks and love the mixture of Raman with salmon roe and citrus sauce, it was light and tasty!

The 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙞 𝙗𝙤𝙬𝙡 (~$9.90) with 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙬𝙣 𝙧𝙤𝙚 (~+$1) made for the foolproof pseudo healthy lunch. 😛
The Mentaiko Salmon was decent, and for the price, this was definitely a sizeable portion. Mix in the torched Mentaiko sauce to layer the light soba base; though it can get jelat, so consuming it all may not be the best idea 🤔 (especially if you’re trying to ‘eat clean’)
The Prawn Roe was a huge portion for the top up; so let yourself go 🤪

It’s amazing how dining establishments at all price points have jumped into action to promptly put in place the Singapore government’s guidelines to help keep those of us who choose to dine out in this unprecedentedly challenging time, safe.

Like when we visited @salmonsamurai a couple of days ago for lunch, there were clear markings everywhere to instruct customers where to stand and sit. The four of us had arrived late, around 2pm, so we got a table immediately. Each of us filled up a form, mixing and matching to create our own salmon bowls. While TH, my niece and her friend chose bases of Yuzu Ume Rice and Udon topped with their preferred preparation style of salmon, I zeroed in on the “Seared Mala Mentaiko Salmon with Chilled Citrus Ramen” ($9.90) and added an extra protein topping of “Seared Mentaiko Salmon” ($6.50). Loved it! The slices of salmon tasted fresh but it was the two mentaiko toppings that were the icing on the cake for me, the mala flavoured one especially 😋😋. It was a match made in heaven with the cold, springy and refreshingly fragrant strands of ramen.

Of course if you wish to enjoy their salmon bowls at home or anywhere else for that matter, you can order them to takeaway or to be delivered (they have an ongoing promotion for FREE islandwide delivery if you spend $50 and above). Just visit their website:
