Located at the sail, healthy nasi lemak options that won’t make you feel guilty when you have a β€˜lemak’ craving.

Fragrant basmati rice, topped with sambal (spiciness of your choice), and healthy side dishes. All cooked on point and I love the heat from the sambal (tried all ranges and love the spiciest one most πŸ™Š)

Very nice owner who are concern about your dining and overall experience. You may opt for a very value lunch deal using the entertainer πŸ˜‰

Back here again in two weeks!! Tried the same dish again (Sambal Time 1 at $9) and I really like it! Like my friend says, it retains the authentic nasi lemak flavour even though we opt for quinoa as the base. Plus loads of fresh and tasty ingredients and very filling, everyone should try this once!! Also try the black sauce for an extra punch

Healthy Nasi Lemak with unique sides such as quinoa!! Never thought nasi lemak could be healthy yet nice at the same time. Sadly I slurped up all my sambal chilli (yes it was that good) before I even finished the food. Low fat, less sugar and no MSG, what’s not to love? I love the sides especially the grilled chicken, but wish the egg omelette was bigger. Will surely be back πŸ˜‹ I got the sambal time 1 for $9 (can use entertainer app) and they accept many payment modes.

When I first found out that I was about to have HEALTHY NASI LEMAK, I was quite skeptical about how it will taste because isn't nasi lemak what it is because it is unhealthy? Sambal Time, located at The Sail at Marina Bay, is able to prove that this is possible with their own spin on the popular local delight, with less sugar and fat, as well as no MSG, coconut milk and deep-frying.

I ordered the Grilled Chicken ($8) which includes a boneless chicken thigh, mushrooms, ikan bilis (anchovies) and omelette 'pancake' egg with an additional medallion. Admittedly, without the coconut milk, there is an absence of flavour in the rice. Thankfully, this is easily rectified through the rest of the components that kind of make you forget you're not eating your usual high-calorie nasi lemak. The sauces range from non-spicy lemon butter to spicy garlic chili sambal. I chose something in between, which would be the sweet sambal, which really compliments the dish, with a spiciness and flavour that's very much to my liking. 😊

The grilled chicken is tender and not dry while the omelette egg 'pancake' is soft and really yummy, along with the mushrooms and anchovies that contribute wholesomely to the overall taste and texture of the nasi lemak! The medallion, while not originally part of the Grilled Chicken set, has got to be my highlight of the whole thing; cauliflower, potato and cheese mashed into one, this reminds of begedil except the medallion packs a lot more flavour with a crisp crust! The combination comes through really well despite the fact that I don't like cauliflower. If you're ordering a set without the medallion, just add it in for $1.50 - totally worth it! 😍

So if you're in the mood for nasi lemak without feeling too unhealthy and guilty, you can check out Sambal Time's more health-conscious version! Let me know what you think of this healthy rendition if you've tried this, or any other healthy spins of supposed unhealthy dishes! They even have a vegetarian and vegan option too! 😁

Thank you to the folks at @sambaltime for the warm and gracious hospitality, and @msjaniceeats for the invite!

Comprising of chicken luncheon meat, otah, omelette, seasonal salad, this set also comes with Ikan bilis & peanuts, seasonal salad on a bed of basmati brown-white rice. Along with your choice of sauce, I opted for the one with the highest spice level - Garlic chilli. The spiciness is rather pronounced and distinct here but i would certainly not mind an increase in intensity πŸ™ˆ. The medallion is not served in this set by default, but you can always top up for an additional add-on for $1.50 - which is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and in fact, the BEST element here (for me😌). Made in house, this panko-crusted coin shaped patty is made with cauliflower, potatoes and cheese grinded and mashed into a smooth, creamy texture within the thin layer of crisp exterior. Love the lingering buttery fragrance and the lingering piquant cheesy flavour as well! πŸ’– Sold at my first bite, I could easily pop a few more into my mouth and wouldn’t mind coming back again just for this!!πŸ˜‹ The otah is also made in-house, which is my 2nd favourite element here. On the other hand, I do adore how the chicken luncheon meat wasn’t overwhelmingly salty, a pleasant savoury note with a thick, chunky and meat-like mouthfeel. The omelette here is also pretty substantial, with a pancake-like texture and thickness. Along with edamame, corns, diced rockmelon cubes, the basmati rice is made using coconut oil instead of coconut milk, a healthier alternative that’s suited for the weight watchers and health conscious. No doubt the coconut flavour is much milder here, but of course at the comprise of health or palatability- which would u go for?πŸ˜‰ . Indeed a great place to satisfy my Nasi lemak cravings, with a lower level of guilt and sin 😌 .
Thanks @sambaltime for the wonderful time and feast, as well as @msjaniceeats for extending the invite! πŸ™†πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ’•.
