Reviews at Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill

Reviews of good food at Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill
You'll Be Licking The Bones Clean!

Santa Fe restaurant boasts a rustic setting that can be very romantic and believe or not, it's a restaurant on a boat! Me and my friends ordered all 4 different flavours of the baby back ribs to share (32+ each) and none of them disappointed me.

The original flavoured ribs were honey glazed ribs and they were amazing. It was not too sickly sweet, and yet addictive!

The louisiana hot sauce ribs packed a punch and it reminded me of tabasco sauce actually. The burn of the sauce reached all the way to my nose and eyes, so get prepared to tear halfway through the meal!

The barbecue sauce ribs was good, but it wasn't anything special. It's probably the safest option out of the 4, since it can accommodate to anyone's taste buds.

The whiskey flambé ribs were the best of the 4, and it comes with a show! Witness your ribs on fire and be sure to record it down for your insta story! The ribs had a hint of whiskey in them, and it further enhanced its smoky taste.

Overall, it is indeed pricey, but it is worth going for to impress your dates, or to celebrate birthdays with your friends. Be sure to ask if any of your friends or dates have sea-sickness, since the setting can be quite rocky!

Wavy Dinner

Interesting dining experience where u need to fight the motion sickness in order to enjoy the meal.

Santa Fe bbq baby back ribs ($32 full rack): love this. Tender, juicy and melt in the mouth. Fries was prepared in the better texture too.

Tex Mex grilled chicken ($26) : chicked chop was a bit hard. Nice mashed potato with potato skin in it. Rich and creamy. Served w grilled vege too.

Turkey quesadillas ($11) : served w 3 different kinds of refreshing sauce.

Clam Chowder

Mild, not too creamy with clams & potato cubes. PS: Love the grill lines on the bread.

Menu For The Night!

A curated menu for the 4 of us. 1 soup, 3 appetizers, 3 mains, 1 dessert plus wine pairing.

Thank you Santa Fe for your warm hospitality!

Stewords Riverboat

So, we had a burppletastemakers tasting on-board Stewords Riverboat, a non-motorized riverboat which was built in 1991 & owned by A&W previously. BizNaz Resources International P/L took over Stewords Riverboat in 1998 & after some facelift, Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill started its operations at the Main Deck of the boat in 2001.

Stewords Riverboat

The friendly host, Eric, took us on a Stewords Riverboat tour.

Main Deck where Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill is situated. With wooden tables, booth seats & warm lighting, this 100 seater casual-dining family restaurant exudes that timeless country style charm.

Upper Deck - A well-equipped private function hall that can hold 150-180pax. An ideal location for both private & corporate events.

Bridge Deck - Breaking Bread, an al-fresco cafe with a sea-view. This 80 seater cafe with open-concept kitchen serves tapas & grills. Only open every Fri & Sat, 6-10pm.

The Wheelhouse - A cosy cabin with an outdoor dining platform suitable for small, private family gatherings. Holds up to 25 pax. Reservation needed, charges apply.

A nice place to "pak tor" (go on a date)

This is certainly not the most convenient place to get to, but all the more its allure as a romantic "pak tor" hotspot (provided no one gets seasick) ;) The Sante Fe Tex Mex restaurant is on the Main Deck (L1) of Stewords Riverboat, with a private room on the Upper Deck (L2) that can cater buffets and functions for 150 - 180 pax. The Bridge Deck (L3) offers al fresco dining that serves up hearty tapas and grills from the Breaking Bread Cafe & Bistro, with a view of the Singapore Flyer and MBS in the background. Come National Day (and rehearsal weekends), you'll even get to enjoy a private view of the fireworks. NOTE: the restaurant is only open for dinner (6pm - 10pm daily); private functions hours flexible. #BurppleTastemakers #tasting

Burpple Tasting @ Sante Fe Tex Mex (Stewords Riverboat)

An exclusive tasting with 3 fellow #BurppleTastemakers tonight. Didn't know what to expect, the location is really hidden and somewhat hard to get in and out of (lots of constructions going on), but the moment you step into the restaurant, you're instantly transported into a different world - one that exudes an old-school charm that's both warm and comforting. Time stands still, makes you want to just hide in here and away from the hustles and bustles out there. Btw, did I mention this is a REAL boat (docked at Marina South Pier)? Yes, it floats and wobbles along with the waves, very interesting experience, but those prone to seasickness be warned ;p

Chicken-Beef Fajitas

After 3 appetisers and 2 main courses (plus frozen Magarita and a few wines), we're all pretty stuffed by now, but this was really good! Grilled meats with sautéed onions and bell peppers served on a sizzling hot skillet. Our host, Eric, said this is the restaurant's "most charismatic" dish, just the way it's served at the table drums up excitement. Make your own fajita wrap with the flour tortilla and condiment set of shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, sour cream and pico de galo (salsa fresca). Tip: load up generously on the sautéed onions for the extra juices and oomph! Just look at how I... erh hem... went overboard with my serve ;) #BurppleTastemakers #tasting

There's always space for dessert

What better way to end a cosy, pampering meal than with chocolate desserts paired with sweet moscato wine? Besides, desserts go into a different stomach, don't they? #BurppleTastemakers #tasting

Walnut Brownie Sundae

This looks so pretty on the plate, chocolate walnut brownie with a vanilla sundae, and cherry on top - an all-time classic (just like almost everything else on this charming Stewords Riverboat). I like the ice-cream, creamy and dense - goes well with the brownie, which was a tad hard, almost like a thick crusty cookie. Not bad but it's not the soft fudgy type of brownie. Not too sweet, not too fancy, down to earth, rounds up the meal quite beautifully. #BurppleTastemakers #tasting

Grand Marnier Brownie Sundae

Good for the alcoholics ;) As its name suggests, this brownie is pre-soaked in Grand Marnier - an orange-flavoured cognac liquer that lends this dessert a subtle bitter, orangey aftertaste. Chocolate and orange, another classic combo, nicely paired with our refilled glass of moscato. #BurppleTastemakers #tasting

Rio Grande Dory

This was not on the planned menu at all - but thanks to Jennifer who doesn't take salmon, our very hospitable host, Eric, arranged for this as a replacement dish, and of course the rest of us got a taste of it too. The dory and mashed potatoes simply melted in the mouth, and the gravy drizzled over added a smooth buttery taste to the dish. A delightful surprise. #BurppleTastemakers #tasting
