Medium rare Augus Ribeye, good as usual. Seafood Bouillabaisse, first time trying it. The soup was sweetened from all the seafood. Savoury good, overall I enjoyed it. The oysters today were bigger than what I had there previously. We end the meal with the melting Foie Gras. Was a good meal for $94 with 3 drinks included.

Slow Cooked Beef Cheeks - $18
The huge chunk of slow cooked beef cheeks is so flavourful and tender, paired with pickled red Bombay onion & a slab of mashed potato. Their Burrata Tomato ($8) is a great starter for the burrata lovers. Burrata cheese is paired with tomato & pesto. Don’t forget to end off with a dessert, Strawberry Confit Crumble ($10) which has basil panna cotta, lemon sable & confit strawberry
Frapas Bar

We started off on a pretty positive note with the Crabmeat 🦀 Croquette ($8). My only qualm is that the addition of coconut in the fritter wasn’t the best complement.

The Grilled Squid 🦑($18) was quite tough but still tasty. However the onion rice 🍚 that stuffed inside the squid was really mushy.

Spotlight on the signature main course — Sophia’s Risotto 🥘 (with crabmeat, coconut, chilli, mackerel). I don’t know if the chef made a mistake in our plate or if this is a disastrously planned concoction 🥴 . Seeing from the other negative reviews online, I believe it’s the latter... 😞 The coconut milk was too overpowering and weighs the already starchy dish down. Most horrifyingly.... there were pockets of rice with a really fishy 🐟 .. almost bloody taste 🤢 #SOS

Lastly, dessert featured a Lemon Tart topped with sorbet, mint leaves 🍃, raspberries and shards of rose flavoured Meringue. 💯 on presentation but theres room for improvement in the taste department...

Overall, I’m disappointed and shocked that we paid so much $$$ for food that should’ve been MUCH better (it’s under the Saveur group!)

Often when there is an attempt to evolve the traditional fare, be it by upscaling it or infusing it with other existent concepts in cuisine, a grey area forms. Therein lies the risk where a concept can become dismissible without care, which was one that FrapasBar took boldly with its re-imagined French tapas selection and profound risottos.
Located just along the seams of The Cathay where the original Saveur used to be, a centerstage bar display, dim lighting and black marble tabletops make for a casual evening dinner with a flair
1️⃣ Sophia’s Risotto ($24) - I gotta tell you, when two of my favourite things to eat in the world coalesce, I might just fall prey to the old biased routine that judges simply based on whether its a standalone winner or a complete fucking disaster. In the case of Sophia’s Risotto combing otah-otah and risotto along with generous chunks of crab meat and mackerel, I’m proud to qualify it in the former category
2️⃣ Saveur Pasta ($9) - for a namesake dish hiding comfortably in the corners of the menu, this minimal serving of dry capellini wasn’t exactly a contender for a signature
3️⃣ Seafood Bouillabaisse ($16) - traditionalist fare made compact might have some setbacks, just saying
4️⃣ Salmon Tartare ($9) - this classic combination of salmon and avocado was made surprising with the addition of pickled ginger and honey
The tapas are not an essential order despite the place having “Tapas” in its name, but do come here for the Sophia’s Risotto.

Wouldn't have gotten this if I hadn't notice the basil panna cotta within the dish. Sadly the panna cotta was a little harder than expected. Crumble was like digestive cookies, and strawberry confit was just.. strawberries. Would recommend skipping desserts here given the many options for desserts nearby.

I guess because the rest of the dishes fared quite well this risotto kind of paled in comparison, lacking somewhat in flavours and dimensions. But it was a super generous portion, about two times what you'll get at a posh Italian restaurant, for those looking to fill up with carbs.
