Kimbob ($7.90) Located at the back of Beauty World Food Centre, this stall is run by Koreans and serves a variety of authentic Korean food. I had the kimbob, which came as pictured with 11 pieces, with egg, carrot, cucumber, crabsticks, burdock, pickled radish and ham. It was refreshing, homely, and made for a satisfying light lunch.

Seafood Pancake ($12.90) Was initially very skeptical about the pancake, but it was surprisingly quite nice! Definitely not one of the best around, but liked that the edges was crispy and it came with soooo much seafood like sotong, prawns etc! 🤤🤤 More doughy and thicker than the usual sold elsewhere, this was priced rather highly compared to their other dishes (<$10) so maybe not the most value eat here, considering korean pancakes at restaurants cost around this price too... But definitely loving the chill vibes at the rooftop of Beauty World Centre and the friendly service! 🥰🥰

Army Stew ($21.90) Satisfying enough to curb any korean craving one might have at this price point and setting! Situated at a food centre with competitive prices (without service charge), don’t come in with too unreasonable expectations and you’ll definitely be well satisfied with your meal 😊😊 Army stew looked a little small for 2 pax, but comes chocked full of ingredients like pork, sausage, luncheon meat, meatballs, topokki, ramen noodles (but was like 1 pack?), kimchi, tofu and topped with a slice of cheese! Sides, or rather side, of kimchi was rather mediocre. But definitely loving the chill ambience set at the rooftop of Beauty World Centre with friendly service and reasonably priced korean food for once 👍🏻👍🏻

Army Stew [17 Feb 2020] I can't remember if this was the spicy chicken stew or Wonda's army stew, but i reckon it's the latter because I would be keen to order if it's listed as army stew in the menu. Anyway it looks like army stew too so yeah. Basically it's a hearty pan of stew, filled with the usual ingredients you would expect in an army stew. I like how the cheese is folded in already! Initially I thought it wouldn't be filling, but I was wrong. And I was very satisfied by the flavours. It's so hard to find army stew for one, and I'm glad I have found this! Can't wait to go back and have another round after the CB is over! (and if they have cold noodles that would be the best, because I went there back then for the cold noodles.)

Sunset Cold Brew Tonic [17 Feb 2020] I found it quite adventurous to try such a combination - cold brew + orange juice - and I was really pleased to find it so refreshing! It's suitable to drink in the hot summer days because adding milk would make the drink heavier and can get jelak after a while.

Had a great lunch that day with friends at Two Cranes, a minimalistic Korean-fusion cafe located in the north east (Kovan) of Singapore. It was my first time visiting this cafe and the food certainly left a good impression. Highly recommend the Spicy Chicken Stew ($13.50), which is served with crab sticks, baked beans, luncheon meat, noodles, vegetables and rice cakes all simmering in a tasty broth. A hearty and affordable meal that’s good for sharing amongst 2! We also tried dishes like the Mix Rice Bowl ($12), Kimchi Fried Rice ($10), Chicken Wings ($12) and Glass Noodle Dumplings ($6) that certainly left us all belly-satisfied! If you’re looking for unconventional wallet-friendly cafe food in the heartlands, this is definitely a place worth checking out.

Soy Garlic Wings from Jinjja Chicken! Have eaten this about 3 times in the past month and I think this is quickly becoming one of my favourite korean fried chicken joints, and perhaps the best fast-food one. We got the 18 piece deal, and opted to have 9 pieces soy garlic and 9 pieces yangneom flavour. The soy garlic (pictured here) is both savoury and sweet, with the right amount of seasoning such that it's neither too salty nor too sweet and also not overly sticky. Non-spicy as well! There's plenty of meat on those bones. Was always hesitant to try because their name sounds so gimmicky, but they are pretty legit. Price: $20.50 for 18 pieces #halfeatenblog #jinjjachicken #korean #chicken #burpple

Do you know that April 14th is called “Black Day” in Korea, mostly observed by singles? That is because Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14 (when women buy men gifts); while White Day is celebrated on March 14 (the men will reciprocate). And for singles who did not get any presents or love those two days, they will ‘celebrate’ by wearing black and eating black Jajangmyeon to drown their sorrows. Jajangmyeon 자장면 is a delicious Korean noodle dish topped with a thick sauce made of chujang (black bean sauce), diced pork, and vegetables, with origins from the Chinese’s Zha Jiang Mian. Don’t be sad, okay? Here are some Korean restaurants in Singapore which serve up black Jajangmyeon, some are offering islandwide delivery: bit.ly/jajangmyeonsg #DFDNoodles

Seoul Bulgogi Iron Plate Rice 14.9++ Served w lettuce for you to make ur ssam. Egg was v fluffy and crisped up at the bottom. Beef was really good, aggressively seasoned and super tender. Such a treat at this price point, none of that chewy, tough nonsense many joints offer. Only gripe is possibly the amount of beef, it was q thinly sliced so it wasn't that generous, but it's good enough. Highly recommended overall, pls mix everything in as the sides add crunch, sweetness and a bit of heat Take note the paste was q salty, I would advise against removing any rice if you're stirring in all the paste. The paste was necessary as the rice and egg lacks any seasoning, only the beef was seasoned. Btw with this plate I've finally tried everything I want to from their new menu!

Cheesy Kimchi Fried Rice - Chicken [$10] RICE and shine! Lunch time special at $10! Regret not ordering this the other time and I ordered the typical ramen instead 🤷🏻‍♀️ THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER GOSH! They are so generous with the rice, chicken and cheese?!? Don't see this bowl like small small but the portion that they give is really a lot. Plus the lunch deal is so worth it, comes with sides and also a drink! Of course this bowl is full of carbs but for someone who's really hungry, you have to order this!

Chicken Bibimbap Bibimbap is an iconic korean dish, and it’s no surprise that Seoul Yummy would offer it as part of their set menus for 2-3 pax. If you don’t mind the dishes on the set menus, it’s actually pretty worth it to go for them along with the choice of sides and drinks. This dish is served in a hot stone bowl, like an authentic korean eatery. They also provide four different Banchan with your meals, which are all refillable as you’d expect from a korean restaurant. You can choose the amount of sauce you’d like to pour in and mix it into the rice and veggies. While I like a thick sauce, I found it a bit hard to really mix it into the rice and dishes, so I ended up using some soup from another dish to help mix everything more evenly. Even though I did that, there were quite a number of clumps of rice that didn’t get much sauce still. Tastewise, it’s quite a decent bibimbap dish. Chicken is also tender and nicely marinated. It wasn’t the most fragrant, but it was affordable in the set menu. Note that there’s a few ways you can save money at Seoul Yummy: 1) Order from their set menu if there’s no particular dish that you want from the regular menu, it’s cheaper than ordering ala carte 2) Seoul Yummy has a membership system where you can order from your table by scanning a QR code, get your credit card details ready. If you order via the QR code, you get 10% off the bill versus ordering with the staff 3) Seoul Yummy is on ShopBack - do remember to check from time to time if they have offers! They were on upsized cashback last week at 35%, but have since resumed their regular cashback rates.

Chicken Ramen [$10++] Would say they overcooked my ramen. The noodles are expanded in size and there isn't much chicken too (sobs only 2 pieces found). Unless you like processed food like ham and sausages... if not this won't be suitable for you (just like me sigh). Prefer the soup to be slightly more spicy as it's on a sweeter side. However it's quite affordable for its lunch deal $10++ with a drink! They have this really yummy side dish - tofu (it has BEAN real long since I had such smooth tofu 😍) which I seldom see in other Korean restaurant so at least they did something right about it 😂
