Satisfying Mexican Meal Went to Vatos Urban Tacos and had an extremely heavy carb loaded meal! Went into food coma right after, really ate a lot. But boy, was it good. We bought their Korean Po Boy and Vatos Style (chicken) burritos, their signature Kimchi Carnitas Fries, Barbacoa Jalapeño Spring Rolls, Bacon and Blue Cheese Guacamole (served with tortilla, and there were candied walnuts in the guac which was a nice touch) and lastly, their ever so popular Baja Fish Tacos. $102 dollars worth of amazing food made more affordable by Chope, having purchased their discount voucher during the birthday sale. The food is on the pricier side, but the portions were pretty big! Everything was just too good, including their prompt and professional service! Make this your go to place for Mexican! Rating :5/5

Taco Tuesday made better with Burpple 1-for-1 deal at Vatos Urban Tacos! Off their signature “Urban Tacos”, we got their Baja Fish ($10 for 2 tacos/ $14 for 3 tacos), Chimichurri Chicken tacos ($10 for 2 tacos/ $14 for 3 tacos) to share and two glasses of Sweet Georgia Peach Iced Tea. The more refreshing option of the two, the Chimichurri Chicken was pleasantly spicy with a sweet tangy chimichurri salsa coupled with crunchy lettuce, sour cream and mexican cheese. But the clear winner for me is their tempura beer-battered white fish. Fresh and flaky, the fillets enclosed with the crisp batter were kept moist and was nicely seasoned. The accompanying pico de gallo (salsa) and apple coleslaw adding a lovely sweetness and bite while cutting the richness of the fish. The bit of heat from the chipotle mayo smeared over the soft tortillas was also a nice touch.

Carne Asada Quesadilla ($19) Back at vatos after my first visit for the burpple year end party, and decided to order the quesadillas because i remembered liking them alot. The 4 pieces didn't seem like much, but perhaps due to the thickness of the wrap and the richness of the cheese, was actually quite a substantial meal. Preciously tried the kimchi pork and loved it, but the carne asada that i decided to try this time round was a little disappointing. While being super flavourful with just the right punch if spiciness, the beef was tough and chewy. I'd recommend to stick with the pork instead which was more tender. Although i liked the food in general, prices here are indeed on the higher end, and i wouldn't dare say that it would have been worth it without burpple beyond

Meaty Mondays Best Mondays While their 8 Colors Set is a little dear at $98++, you can rest assured that the pork being served is serious top shelf quality, as the pork is from the highly prized Hungarian Mangalitsa pigs. Those piggies are basically Hungary’s version of the famous Spanish Iberico pigs, and they are every bit as delicious. The eight marinades slathered on the pork bellies are (from lightest flavored to heaviest), original, wine, honey ginger, curry, herb, miso, red pepper paste and kalbi. While the first three marinades were effectively there only in spirit, it allowed the superb natural flavors of the pork belly to really steal the show. The pork is fatty but utterly unctuous, and so so tremendously tender. All the flavors taste exactly as expected, but the miso & kalbi marinated ones daintily danced away with my heart thanks their stellar flavors. There’s always a waitstaff who’ll patrol your general area and cook your meats for you. They’re pretty on the ball too, so all you gotta do is kick back and turn those Monday blues into a Monday boom.

Enjoyable Samgyeopsal Had the 4 flavor set pork belly and we chose garlic, herb, miso and kalbi. I like the miso and kalbi the most. We also had the tender and yummy wagyu ribeye ($88 for 200g), plus the flavorful seafood tofu stew. The only disappointment was the kimchi pancake which did not taste much of kimchi.

8 Favours Pork Belly It comes with complimentary kimchi chigae. However, it is quote disappointing that the pork belly is not tender and not very fresh (got very strong frozen meat taste).

Korean Fusion BBQ (Dunlop Street) 06/09/19 Time limit: 100min (I think this applies only to Eatigo users) Price: $18.60 (After 50% Eatigo discount and 10% Service Charge) Note: No GST charge at this buffet A small obscure restaurant located on the second floor of a shophouse along Dunlop Street. They had quite a wide variety of marinades for the pork belly as well as a variety of different types of meat and meat cuts. In addition to the meats were the vegetables and pineapple (Probably canned) and watermelon. There was a waffle, ice cream and cooked food station as well. On top of that, they provide free-flow drinks for an additional $2.50 nett. Otherwise, you're strongly recommended to bring your own water. While there was a decent variety of meats, I wouldn't come back again, even with the 50% discount as none of the meats were high quality and none of the marinades stood out in particular apart from perhaps, the herbal pork belly. Price: 8/10 (This is after the 50% discount) Taste: 5.5/10 Ambience: 4/10 Overall: 5.5/10 (Would not be over 5 without the 50% discount) More pictures at: https://www.instagram.com/p/B2ecO5CAAoN/?igshid=1hpgzoaqyu5ey Full review at: https://thankgodjournals.blogspot.com/2019/09/buffet-review-korean-fusion-bbq-dunlop.html
