For 1-for-1 Main & Drink (save~$18) Find this hip cafe along Horne Road near Lavender MRT for solid western nosh. The grilled Chicken Arabiatta ($13.90) is a good choice, as is the flaky Pan-Seared Salmon Fillet ($19.90) in a creamy lemon-butter gravy. The Bagel Set With Avocado ($17) that comes with buttery folds of scrambled eggs is a great all-day breakfast option. *Muslim-owned Photo by Burppler Komal Salve

Mild Strength, Medium Lavender Scented Latte Read on Burpple that this is the recommended drink so I decided to give it a try as part of my burpple deal. Noted that the beans are supplied from Allpress Expresso when I made my order.p Hot lavender latte (single shot) is usually served slightly sweetened and is priced at $5.50 I had requested for mine to be unsweetened as I’m not a fan of sweetened coffee. The staff recommended for me to opt for the slightly sweetened for the fullest flavor and satisfaction and offered to put the sugar syrup on the side for me if I decided to try it later. It was additional effort on his team to clean up and I appreciated it very much. Came across some reviews saying that the coffee strength is extremely weak and decided that I’d add an extra shot (+$0.40) to try to counter that. Total cost adds up to $5.90 for a cuppa double shot hot lavender latte. My boyfriend, not a fan of coffee, ordered an iced lavender latte (double shot) as the burpple deal limits the drink selection to coffee. Like its unchilled sibling, it comes sweetened and is priced at $7.50. The hot lavender coffee was served warm, topped with some purple lavender flowers against the brown and whites of the milk coffee, on a wooden coaster with “Bravery x Allpress” carved onto it. A small metal pitcher of sugar syrup and a metal spoon accompanied my cup of latte. Lavender smell was pretty strong at first whiff but faded off later on. Temperature of the drink was way cooler than that which lattes are usually served at and it’s also not what the way I’d liked it to be. As mentioned in other reviews, the coffee in the drink was almost undetectable (even with the additional shot I had requested) and it became underwhelming for me. The lavender flavor paired well with the milk but I would choose to go without the lavender next time in order to have a higher chance at tasting the coffee hints. I did eventually try the slightly sweetened version at half point mark but it didn’t help the drink in meeting my expectations. Again, I do appreciate the staff’s gesture of providing alternatives and recommendations. Iced lavender latte was served in a tall slim glass with a black plastic straw topped with purple flowers as well. Taste was likened to the warmer sibling. Definitely not a pick me up kind of drink. My boyfriend didn’t enjoy it very much as well. I’d think that the taste and enjoyment of this drink would vary across the coffee and non coffee drinkers depending on their preference of lavender. Previous experience of Allpress expresso beans m at “Baker & Cook” had me trying the drink at this cafe with a certain expectation. Perhaps it would have been different had I not came with that experience. Will recommend to increase the number of shots by 2 or 3 times if you would like to try the drink! May come back to try the normal flat white with 2-3 additional shots.

Cheeseburger [$10] at a special Tuesday promotional price of $10, this double-pattied(!!!) cheeseburger is amazinggg. the patty was flavourful and well seasoned with hints of smoky charcoal fragrance. leaning towards a medium-rare doneness, the meat was slightly pink in the middle and remained tender throughout, melding perfectly with the cheese. oh and the bunssss 😍 slightly crackly tops, insanely soft and fluffy insides. buttered as well! so glad I finally made the trip down. will be back every Tuesday from now on 🤪 also if you’re planning to go as well, do make a reservation beforehand! it was really crowded when I went and I was so thankful I made a reservation because there was a queue 🙊 4.8/5

Beef Short Rib The third item of my order, the Beef Short Rib. Again, they’ve done such a good job with this! The meat was Super tender, it falls off the bone! It’s covered with a thick layer of pepper, nice for some fiery melt in your mouth beef initially. However, midway through, I had to scrap off some of it as it over-powered the flavour of the beef. I’d say, keep to their beef dishes as they do do fantastically well with them!

Beef Brisket I’m don’t usually have beef brisket, or rather it’s not my first choice for beef due to the texture. However, MeatSmith has done a fabulous job with it! It’s so tender it tears (cuts) as you cut it, and melts in your mouth. Plus, the taste is just right - flavourful and peppery (yet not overtly over-powered by either). 👍👍

Pulled Beef Brisket Cubano ($9.90) Preferred the ribeye cheesesteak to this, though the brisket was also extremely good! You can read my other review for a longer breakdown of the place, but TLDR: - loaded chips that comes with the Cubano are excellent! - portions are damn big - didn’t use Beyond cuz prices are reasonable and I didn’t want a Cuban soda

Ribeye Cheesesteak Cubano ($10.90) The Cubano was so delicious... Even though I can’t take spicy food, this was still super good. Really hits the spot when you want some comfort food. The beef was also tender and the bread was really crispy. I love the loaded chips. Might even be better than fries (and I LOVE fries). Didn’t use Burpple Beyond because we didn’t want to buy the soda. Cuban sodas are quite sweet and we wanted something lighter. We also got the set (drink and soup for $2-3 more). The broccoli cheese soup was also super creamy and AMAZING! It also came with this delicious garlic bread. The staff member who served us was also really friendly and personable! I’d be back again for sure! Portions are huge though and I couldn’t finish the Cubano. I’d suggest you share or dapao the mains, because they’re too delicious to waste!

Cheap & Delicious Cubanos! Truly a hidden gem! The cubanos are awesome! We had the pulled beef brisket ($9.90) and the Ribeye cheesesteak ($10.90) cubanos and they were both delicious. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft within and the filling was so flavourful! Will definitely be back for more!

Charcoal Grilled Whisky Ribeye ($26) This was an excellently-cooked cut of steak and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I requested it to be done medium-rare and it came out just right. The aggressive herb and pepper seasoning brought out the smokiness of the charred meat as well. However, I could barely detect any whisky flavour - that was the biggest disappointment for me as I was looking forward to trying something novel. The steak is paired with a salad which was good to balance out the strong flavours of the meat. I thought shoestring fries would have been a great accompaniment as well, but unfortunately add-ons are not allowed for Burpple Beyond redemptions. This restaurant is located about 8 min walk from Boon Keng MRT station and is easy to find. However, I visited on a particularly rainy day which made the walk rather unpleasant.

For 1-for-1 Main Dish (save~$18) This casual grill concept is a great choice for an intimate group gathering. Have their tender Charcoal Grilled Whisky Ribeye ($26) that is best enjoyed medium rare. The flaky and moist Charcoal Grilled Salmon ($25) will not disappoint, it comes bathed in malt and served with their signature garlic chili. Photo by Burppler Kenneth Lee

Charcoal Grilled Whisky Ribeye ($26++) Pleasantly surprised by how good the food was here! My friend suggested having my birthday dinner at Homeground Grill & Bar and the menu sounded good so why not? One of the star dishes for the night was the charcoal grilled whisky ribeye ($26++ for 200g). Staff and I would recommend going for medium rare because we won’t be friends if you have it at any other doneness. First thing you’ll notice is its aroma, the fragrance from the herbs and the smokiness from the charcoal would cause one to salivate. Secondly, the texture once you bite is extremely tender and juicy. It comes with a salad and a red wine reduction as a complementing sauce but I thought it was fine by itself. For $26++, it’s really value for money but it is also available on Burpple Beyond as 1-for-1 mains. A real steal if I may add.

Best Falafels And Fluffiest Pita Breads In Singapore I find falafels at other places in Singapore really dry, but these were perfect and tasty! And the pita breads were like clouds.

Fill Free ($9) The dish was actually very filling. Be careful when ordering the spicy flavour though!!

Fill Free ($9) This was one of those experiences that changed my life. At that time a few months back, I was at a crossroads paved into ennui. A depravity of inspiration, of novelty and whimsy in gastronomy. Then came along Eli. Then came along Pita Bakery. It was love at first sight and love at first bite, respectively of course. Enchanté, I was never happier. - 📍 THE PLACE Bordered on the outskirts of eclectic Kampong Glam on Bali Lane, Pita Bakery is a cozy shack with just 5 tables (3 inside, 2 outside), but makes up for its unassuming tiny space with its moreish Mediterranean food that keeps a loyal band of falafanatics (falafel and fanatics get it hah) coming back for weekly takeaways and outsiders into the fold. - 🍽 THE FOOD 1️⃣ Fill Free ($9) - the holy grail, a beatific combination of Middle Eastern flavours stuffed into a pillowy, fresh-baked pita. We’re talking bountiful balls of scrumptious falafels and crisp turshi topped with a tantalizing blend of tahini, harissa and amba 2️⃣ Hummus ($4) - , thoughts? 3️⃣ Take It Easy ($8) - while the naming conventions may seem like something straight out of a comic book café, make no mistake, this is a place that gets their Middle Eastern food right. 8 balls of warm, crunchy and seductive falafel nestle in a perfectly shaped wooden tube, fresh for the picking to be dipped into either the hummus or harissa that these eight little dwarves come with - 🤔 THE VERDICT If you’re like me and find yourself falling in love with a Jew with no idea how to get around Kosher laws on food by the third date, look no further than Pita Bakery, which happens to be Halal, Vegan AND Kosher. On god do I dream of the pitas from there at times.
