Nasi Goreng With Ayam Goreng Fried rice and chicken leg, which is their signature. The portion is generous and it comes with inhouse chilli souce on the side, which brings the dish to next level. The skin of the chicken is thin and crispy which is to my liking, however the chicken is not as flavourful as the fried rice. I need to dip into the chilli source.
For Foolproof Nasi Goreng Situated just around the corner from Haji Lane is a no-frills lunch option. Grab your colleagues and come by for their Nasi Goreng Ayam ($6) that sees well-fried rice served alongside a large piece of crispy deep fried chicken. Burppler Veronica Phua recommends rotating between the three chilli options — a spicy, tangy “chicken rice chilli sauce”, a savoury belachan-based one and a pickled sliced green chilli option. If you're a fan of sambal belachan, go for their fragrant Nasi Goreng Kampong ($5.50). Photo by Burppler Veronica Phua
Nasi Goreng Ayam Paid a visit to the halal eatery that I use to lunch at pretty often when I worked in the area. Choosing their Nasi Goreng Ayam was a no-brainer as it was my standard order then. It’s good to know nothing has changed. The rice is still well fried without being too oily. Which does slightly alleviate the guilt of having it with a large piece of crispy deepfried chicken. They still offer not one but three kinds of chilli to enjoy with the dish too. There’s a spicy, tangy “chicken rice chilli sauce”, another that’s savoury because it’s belachan-based, and last but not least, pickled sliced green chillies that’s almost fruity. Since all of them work for me. I just rotate amongst the three with each mouthful.

Great Affordable Homemade Pasta Staff were very friendly and helpful; they patiently explained the restaurant concept and gave recommendations. We tried the Crazy Carbonara ($15.90) that was recommended, and no regrets!! Sauce was pleasantly light for a carbonara and the pieces of smoked duck were tasty. Apparently they revamped their menu to include more sauces (pesto, tomyum etc) and I would come back again to see what other pasta types they have and to try other pasta dishes! 😍😍
Arabiatta W Paprika Fusilli Yum, there were 3 choices of pasta and i chose paprika fusilli. Not for those who love spicy though, the tomato sauce is quite sweet. Not bad for a student they have lynch set meal for $9.90 & $11.90. Homemade ice lemon tea is included and it taste like honey is in it
Seafood Pomodoro ($15.90). I'd be honest, I don't think it was good. It's decent but I don't understand the crowd they draw. - What I don't understand is their insistence on offering only "special" varieties like the lemon garlic fettuccine here instead of proper plain pasta (I asked). Sometimes less is more. - Still, credit where it's due. Pasta was cooked to al dente with a good bite (though it was not rolled thin enough and became a bit chewy). The amount of seafood given was generous. Pomodoro sauce was balanced. Not sure if that extra tick of citric zest from the pasta was needed though (the other pasta on selection would have fit even less FYI). - Not exactly authentic, and the lack of normal pasta is a jarring decision, but Tipo is still a good alternative to the many "casual" pasta places in the same price range.

Here's what we tried: 🔹️Buffalo Wings (6pcs $11.90) - their signature dish! 😉 Spice level is very manageable! 🌶 . 🔹️Smoked Salmon Bruschetta ($8.90) - a nice starter! ✌🏻 Can't go wrong with savoury salmon 🐟 with smoky notes on buttery toasted bread 🥖 with garlicky aroma! . 🔹️Mothership ($27.50) - HIGHLIGHT! ⚡ A combination of Tashookah, 3 red bone Toolangs (mutton & beef) & chunks of meat all on a pizza dough, this was certainly an eye-catcher! 😍😍😍 Loved the gravy so much! ✔ Being my virgin Toolang experience, i sucked up those jelly-like marrow with a straw - slightly gamey but v unique. 👌🏻 . 🔹️PMS Belachan Arrabiata ($16.90) - MY FAVE! ❤❤❤ The belachan chilli sauce renders a SHIOK fiery kick 🔥, which imparts so much flavours to the linguine & accompanying seafood - Prawns, Mussels & Squid! 💯 . 🔹️Cream Basil Soft Shell Crab ($18.90) - very rich cream sauce lusciously coats the linguine, with the taste of basil cutting the heaviness a bit. 👍🏻 Liked the crispy soft-shell crab! 🦀 . 🔹️Briyani Burger ($18.90) - only available on Tue Wed & Thu, the patty could be more moist & juicy imo. 🍔 . Mentaiko Tiger Prawn Aglio Olio ($20) Apart from its industrial interior & extremely famous desserts & croissants from its sibling company, @brotherbird_bakehouse, @stateland_coffeehouse has a pretty exciting menu as well! My new fav would be their Mentaiko Tiger Prawn Aglio Olio ($20)! The Aglio Olio is mixed with tobiko and topped with Mentaiko sauce & additional tobiko to give you small bubbles of saltiness amidst the juicy tiger prawns & the al dente spaghetti! After a good toss & mix, each strand of spaghetti is coated perfectly with mentaiko & tobiko, without being too overpowering. Another option you can choose is the KFC & Waffle ($18). KFC aka Korean Fried Chicken, is soy glazed chicken seated atop their cinnamon scented waffle with a side of kimchi slaw to balance the sweet and savoury with a tinge of sour! Definitely a winner! Also, a special mention to their side of Fried Cauliflower! Dehydrated, battered and deep fried cauliflower is tossed in curry powder to give you that crunchy but healthy tasty veggie dish that you need! Even non-veggie lovers (like me) do fancy this dish quite a fair bit! #aroundwithamd #burpple

Irregular Sized Scones I came to this cafe many times and the scones were always sold out. Finally got my hands on one today (my second time having the scone), and I felt kinda cheated. I saw on the racks with bigger sized scones but perhaps I did a takeaway, they chose an extremely small one for me.
Chicken Tikka Sandwich ($13.90 before gst & service charge) Part of their weekday set lunch menu that gives you complimentary soup of the day or dessert. I chose dessert - small slice of nutty cake with a layer of chocolate sauce on top. Chicken breast+pesto+tomato+brie+sauce that taste like subway sweet onion between hot pressed ciabatta. Sandwich comes with a side of salad that seems to have no dressing so I did not touch that (maybe I should have added that to my sandwich in hindsight😂) Sandwich is nicely toasted. I like the sauce and bread but chicken breast is chicken breast - dry. Decent cafe sandwich at cafe prices. Will I go for the sandwiches again? I don’t know. Not the ones with chicken probably.
Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Tart ($8.45) At first glance, the tart looks shallow and I was worried the crust will be too thick and filling too little. I bought it because I was craving for chocolate tart😂 The crust is thick and buttery - in this case the thickness is just right because the dark chocolate and caramel is so rich, gooey and thick that you need a nice buttery crust to balance the richness. More filling would have made this tart too gelat to finish. Dark chocolate sea salt caramel combo never fails. I like the tart and will definitely buy it again. However, when I cut into it I noticed a huge blob of super sweet icing. Then I realised it must have been the icing they used to stick the tart base to the “tart holder” ( I have no idea what’s it called). Remember to check the bottom and scrap them off. I saw they have naked dark chocolate sea salt caramel cake too. Will give that a try next time
