The Green Ducklings 23 Dec’18, Sun☁️ 📍The Green Ducklings - Fried Carrot Cake with Nacho Cheese🧀 - Unagi Sandwich🥪 - Flat White☕️ Fried carrot cake with nacho cheese (and shallot) is something different and didn’t expect it to go well, not bad for a try, but suggest to share as it may go jelak at the end (greasy & cheesy). Unagi sandwich is a miss in my opinion, it really depends, the bones wasn’t soft to the extent where I can consciously but still swallow them down my throat with the bread...the potato were nice though, I mean, potato can’t really fail right...=X The flat white is along medium bodied coffee, not bad... Think come once is enough... Bonus: Cafe filled with pastel / Tiffany blue colour, quite instagrammable... Damage: $18.80

Gluten Free Waffles With Scrambled Eggs & Tomato Paste And Butter With Maple Syrup $16 Their gluten free waffles are made with almond, coconut, chia seeds, eggs and rice. I never imagined gluten free waffles can taste this good. They are soft, moist (if you like crispy waffles then this is not for you) and goes very well with their butter - which I love - and maple. Scrambled eggs are creamy and nicely seasoned. The next time I come I will tell them to hold off the tomato paste (guess I still like it sweet instead of savoury). Their cappuccino $5.50 for tall is good too. Hot, full bodied and not acidic. I like that Tiann’s has no artificial flavouring/additives, trans fat, hydrogenated oil, lower sugar and they pride themselves on providing REAL GOOD FOOD. I will definitely be back.

Pork Cheek Quesadilla ($20++) In light of the source of my eternal torment, namely the final paper on the devious mechanisms of Business Law, denial has bestowed unto me safe passage in writing to distract myself from the now. The only true shred of knowledge that I can confidently proclaim would be that it is illegal to commit a crime. - May it please the court, my name is @thintbites and I am counsel for all things culinary in nature. The defendant, W39 Bistro & Bakery has, in retrospect, engaged in criminal behaviour that is unlawful in the eyes of the common law: serving disappointing food. It was an implied term that the dishes that the plaintiffs had ordered was going to be parts of a delectable whole. In accordance with Section 14.2A in the Sales of Goods Act which states that the “goods are of satisfactory quality if they meet the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking account of any description of the goods, the price (if relevant) and all the other relevant circumstances”, the defendant had failed to deliver as promised, serving up dishes that were imbalanced in flavours, minimal in portion and lacking in any redeeming factors whatsoever. - The Chef’s Special Assam Seabass and Fragrant Rice ($22) was unfortunately, anything but special. The assam gravy was simply too heavy and imbalanced, and for its price, was not of satisfactory quality. The Chicken Roulade ($22) had a glimmer of hope; in that it was a good attempt at a correct concept, but lacked the refinement and balance of a good dish. It was a roller coaster of flavours, but rather the kind of roller coaster that makes you dizzy and nauseous, leaving you lying on the cold hard ground. The only promising dish of the night was the Pork Cheek Quesadilla ($20), with meltingly tender pulled pork cheek in tortilla wraps. The Starter Platter ($32) will allow one to select from any four of their unimaginative starters, and ironically had to be the least value-for-money in terms of the anticipated quality of it all with bland fries, run-of-the-mill mozzarella sticks and sautéed mushrooms that were simply a tired attempt at a country classic. - With that, I rest my case. Thank you your honour.

W39 Brunch Platter 🥓 Pleasing to the eye, but we both rated this 6/10 taste-wise. Decent flavours, but not out to wow the tastebuds. The dipping sauces were unique - sriracha mayo, mango kaya & gula melaka - but unfortunately, not to our liking. We tried a daring drink - teriyaki avocado latte. Not for the faint-hearted. We couldn't finish it. The PB&J espresso (last pic) was pretty good, though! An interesting twist to the usual cup of coffee.

Smoked Salmon Egg Benedict & Pork Cheek Quesadilla The Pork Cheek Quesadilla was really delicious and flavorful and the nachos that came with it was crunchy and matched well with the Quesadilla. Even though it’s $20, I think the price was justified by the taste. The smoked salmon was also really good and it felt like it melted in my mouth. It went well with the bread, but the bread could be a little crunchier. Overall, the food is priced reasonably and it is what is expected for a cafe. The food is really good and we’ll visit again if we’re in the area.

Just Too Good Ordered the highly raved Smoke Duck Linguine ($28) and very generous portion, recommended to share for two. Succulent pieces of smoke duck and I think this will suit those who love lemak cili padi but cannot take the spice as the taste is pretty watered down. Cheesy Kupang ($15) was really delicious with huge and plenty of mussels thrown in. Had to mop all the deliciousness with bread, for an additional $5. Wish the bread was toasted instead of soft. Dish got too jelak at the end so recommended to share with at least 3! The malayan wings ($14) was nice and crispy with kicap manis sauce. The salmon yakitori was on the house and this was nice as well with specks of cili padi and the sauce ( cuz it’s free also😅😂) Really good hospitality 👍 Last but not least, the most popular item here Ondeh-Ondeh Cake ($9.50) definitely did not disappoint with the taste staying true to the kueh itself. Eat with the vanilla ice cream at the side for a more cooling experience. Must try!! Overall, have to say good food but even better service with free dish and a complimentary durian cake and $20 voucher with no minimum spending for our next return😱 Now this is how u get people to come back 💯

Chicken Jenganan Parmigiana Chicken Jenganan Parmigiana ($28++) Portion is huge!!! Good for 2 to share. Comes with chicken that's still moist and well seasoned (it's slightly spicy), keropok, sambal quail eggs and generous portions of salad and truffle fries. Guilty indulgence!!

TMC Wagyu Burger TMC wagyu burger ($28++) Wagyu beef patty didn't taste moist and disintegrated after cutting. Supposed to have satay sauce but didn't taste any of it. Is a very average burger. Comes with lots of truffle fries and salad (which was doused with too much mayo sauce.. would be better if it was served with something less sweet like vinaigrette or sesame soy sauce). Other mains tasted nicer.
