Tie Guan Yin with Coffee Popcorn I’m not at all a coffee person, but this collaboration flavour between Tom’s and Parchmen & Co had a well handled balance! I liked how they retained the natural bitterness of the tie guan yin and didn’t overwhelm it with sweetness. The white chocolate and hand ground coffee beans coated popcorns gave a contrast texture and flavour. This anniversary flavour is available on 20th and 21st September, as part of Tom’s 14th Anniversary celebration - they’ll also be serving up other brand new flavours and returning fan favourites through the month. Thank you @tomspalettesg for having us and @burpple for the kind invite! ✨

Vanilla with Oolong and Rose Jelly A special collaboration flavour with Gong Cha - vanilla made with Madagascar vanilla beans, topped with oolong tea sauce and konnyaku rose jelly! The scoop was fragrant with a good amount of sweetness. Was fun to have with the chewy bits of konnyaku too. This anniversary flavour is available on 13th and 14th September, as part of Tom’s 14th Anniversary celebration - they’ll also be serving up other brand new flavours and returning fan favourites through the month. Mao Shan Wang We were super lucky to get to try the very limited batch of Mao Shan Wang that the Tom’s Palette crew worked really hard in making!! It was freshly churned to lock in as much of the durians’ natural flavour, and that really shone through the final product. Absolutely loved the richness and its creamy texture! Thank you @tomspalettesg for having us and @burpple for the kind invite! ✨

Triple Egg Udon! This was pretty good, I liked the combination of all three eggs (mentaiko, salmon roe and onsen egg)! It was really creamy and would eat again, but might not travel there jUST for it 😊

Fried pierogi!! We ordered 5 lunch sets and use the Burpple one for one deal 👍🏻 their lunch set is $16 and includes a bowl of ramen, a plate of 4 dumplings and a drink which is v worth it even without the Burpple deal. We ordered 3 different dumpling flavors to try: fried pierogi, original and the veggie mandu. My favourite has to be the fried pierogi cos it has cheese inside!!! 🥰 The original and veggie mandu were good too but were not as special as the pierogi. Drinks wise I ordered the salted plum wolfberry pu-erh, which I love cos I’m a big fan of salted plum drinks. I loved how they added the wolfberries to add a tinge of sweetness and health to the drink 💪🏼 Overall really enjoyed the meal and would go back for the lunch set even without the one for one deal ☺️

Different From What I Remembered Back here again and I’m a little disappointed as the noodles weren’t as flavourful as they were before, but still decently good! Their fried pierogis are still as crispy and delicious as I remember it to be so all is well ☺️ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Set Lunch Just further down the lane from Wanton Seng’s, you’ll be greeted with a line of CBD slaves waiting to feed their hungry souls (temple nearby if needed). The set lunch (Noodles + Side + Drink) is worth every penny, even better with Burpple Beyond. A play on Bak Chor Mee, Dumpling Darling’s play on Braised Pork Noodles were levelled up, serving pork ragu with springy noodles in every bite. Must order dumplings: Smoked Duck Dumpling & Fried Pierogi You’ll be very pleased after a satisfying lunch ;) Go early!

For 1-for-1 Buffet (~save $60) Meat lovers, jot this one down! This meat-centric Buffet (from $42) housed in Park Hotel Alexandra serves up superb roasts in a comfy setting. While there isn't a wide variety, the salt-grilled Ana Paula Black Angus Ribeye and the succulent Spit-Roasted Chicken with Truffle are sure to satisfy. Beef (Dry-Aged, Slow Roasted) Finally had some time for a longer lunch, and decided to head to The Carvery to try the meat buffet. The beef and lamb was fabulous! They even had different types of sea salt that would go with the meats - charcoal, red lava sea salt, mixed spices sea salt. Personally, I liked the mixed spices sea salt the best - it went very well with the beef and gave it more texture and flavour. The service staff were prompt and alert to ensure my water was topped up; they took the time to speak with me - asking if I’ve tried their carving station and even explained how that they dry-aged their beef for approximately 2 weeks before they slow roast it, then roast it in their charcoal oven. In addition, they had 2 types of goat cheeses, which is rare for any restaurants or buffets. It may not be everyone’s top choice but I loved it So thumbs up on this! Their pork knuckle is usually for dinners; and on weekends, they would have 2 different types of beef available. This probably explains the difference in the buffet price. A buffet for the meat lovers!

They were not kidding when they said that their rotasserie chicken is their specialty. The meat was really tender and juicy, and didn't need any sauce to go with it. Rather than the variety, their quantity do shine for certain dishes such as their wood fire pizzas and bread pudding. Worth it if you get the 1 for 1 @chopesg voucher for about $50!

$11 Bowl Got romaine lettuce as base, cajun chicken for protein, pumpkin and onsen egg as the sides. Overall, it was quite decent and yummy but without the Burrple discount, I would prefer Daily Cut since the same price would fetch me the medium bowl there! Plus points for the ample seating in the cafe though.

Protein Bowl Had the medium protein bowl ($13) which came with 1 base (romaine lettuce), 1 protein (baked dory fish), 3 supplements (roasted curried cauliflower, onsen egg and roasted pumpkin) and a sprinkle of mixed nuts. It also comes with dressing but I didn't have any dressing on this one. I felt the portions were not really good on this one, for $13 I can easily get a more generous bowl somewhere else. I think the weirdest thing I did was to add the mixed nuts, somehow I thought they'd be almonds or something but it ended up just being crushed peanuts. >< The fish is quite good though, flaky and with a crispy but not oily breadcrumb exterior. Can't really go wrong with the onsen egg which is a really good pairing with the lettuce :) I felt the roasted pumpkin was a weird one, it felt soggy and it was mashed which I didn't like. Not too bad!! Better options out there but with a one for one deal I'll take it for a healthy, fuss-free, kinda-yummy lunch :) 7/10

Terrible Service Had two sandwiches but left after a terrible service. The saddest thing was that I’ve had great service here before. When I went to order at the counter at 330pm (they close at 5pm), I was told that the French toast & the pasta was “out of stock” despite it being a weekend, and these are two of their most well-loved food. As I’ve been waiting for my friend for a while now, I asked them why I wasn’t informed when I sat down. The reply, after telling me that “the staff forgot”? “You don’t have to eat here”. Which was appalling, to say the least. Not even an attempt at apology when I went back and said “I would appreciate it if I was informed when I sat down and the menu was given”. And proceeded to order anyway. Food that was served was decent, but gods, I will never step foot in there again, and i would be sure to inform my friends about the horrible service.

Wish It Came With More Greens Recommended for cheese lovers and runny egg lovers. Surprised by the running egg in the middle of the toast. HOW DO THEY EVEN DO THAT! It's gr8 but would have been nice to have some greens by the side. Also, I rly didnt get the bacon jam on the bread by the side hmmmmmm

Good Food, But Good Service? Parking was somewhat of a problem. Ordered the carbonara fries as well as toast. Unfortunately ordered forgetting to use the Burpple app. Was told that they were unable to reverse the transaction, turned my back and walked away, didn’t really bother too much as price was reasonable, however staff challenged saying burpple rules having to show the promo before ordering... etc etc etc Somethings better left unsaid, oh well :/

Chili Crab Pasta ($18) Fettuccine was a little soft but still had a decent bite and sauce was nice (slightly tangy, a little spicy and pretty eggy)! 🤤🤤 Chili crab came in a pretty generous piece but was not as crispy as I expected. Everything tied in pretty nicely and definitely a satisfying pasta, especially at this price point and with Burpple Beyond 👍🏻👍🏻

Honey BBQ Babyback Ribs ($20) Quite impressed by the portion?? At just $20, there were about 8 pieces of ribs and the ribs were actually better than decent 👍🏻👍🏻 Nicely glazed with a good amount of sweet honey BBQ sauce, the ribs were pretty decent - not too dry though not fall off the bone tender. Thai-inspired salad wasn’t anything special - the lotus root lost its crisp and wasn’t that flavourful, and the salad dressing was slightly lacking. Definitely a worthy meal (especially with Burpple Beyond) and since babyback ribs tend to be priced higher despite the smaller size but higher fatty content. Do try before the burpple vouchers expire this month in September! 😋😋
