NEW SNACK: Scotch Quail’s Egg (($7++) M E D I A T O U R The first thing I popped into my mouth when at Meatsmith Telok Ayer which was where the media tour began, had me almost hyperventilating - this new snack of Scotch Quail Eggs by Head Chef Eddie Goh and Group Head Chef Alasdair McKenna was just too good! Crunchy from the crumbed coating, each hot golden-brown ball hid a quail’s egg wrapped in housemade chicken sausage meat. It was finished with some pork rub seasoning and topped with avruga caviar. I would have loved more of this intensely tasty thing but the night was young and I knew for a fact, much, much more food was lined up for us, so one was all I had. Don’t be obliged to show any restraint though when you decide to give this a try. Be a baller and go all out.

Beef Brisket 1-1 was only applicable for Chicken chop, beef brisket and pork ribs. Based on the price point, 1-1 isn’t worth it for the chicken. We had the pork and beef which was good. Especially the beef — soo gudd. For sides, we had the dirty fries, spicy wings and fried mac and cheese. I won’t recommend the mac and cheese. For dessert we had the meringue tart and honeycomb ice cream. Wouldn’t go for the tart. Ice cream is decent! Last notes: service is a bit slow. May need to make a reservation during lunch time.

Stick To Meat Mains No need for introduction to this place. Ribs and beef were awesome, made better with Burpple beyond! But! The pork crackling was over fried, and tasted lacklustre. We barely had a couple of pieces each and couldn’t finish - a poor dish which doesn’t belong in the menu

Also Good The Pork Cheek ($23++) was also good, with the meat being fork tender & not seasoned too crazily. The tomato-based sauce has a touch of red wine, good flavours in all. The pappardelle was al dente as well. I actually think these 2 pastas go pretty well together in that they are delicious but different. Service was good & attentive here. If you're redeeming a Burpple Beyond deal here, be sure to swipe at the correct Rookery location as there is another one quite nearby at Hong Leong Building! The waitress that billed me pointed out that I was at the wrong page.. Delicious & Not Jelak First time at Rookery for me - caught up with a friend I don't see often & this was a perfect location to do so. It wasn't too noisy, & we sat next to the glass wall so we had some kind of privacy (in the audibility, not visibility, sense) Ordered 2 pastas from the pasta menu (available 11:30AM onwards) to share. Both are Chef's Recommendations, & I did like them both. However, I do have a favourite - the Crab Meat ($24++). Al dente tagliatelle & generous shreds of blue swimmer crab tossed with garlic in a delicious, well-balanced tomato cream sauce. Quinoa Cauliflower [$16++] One of the more uncommon brunch dishes at cafes, this consists of roasted cauliflower on a bed of quinoa, accompanied by some pieces of halloumi cheese too. Really enjoyed this dish because it was surprisingly flavourful! The quinoa had some sauce in it, tasted a little like soya? And the cauliflower was spiced with a little curry too. Would order this again!

Amazing Wagyu beef, highly recommended! 1 for 1, 7-course meal at $78++. Boyfriend really really enjoyed the Wagyu Marble score 7-8 Tri tip and the Char Siew (beef ribs)! It was tender, juicy and flavorful. We were served a small serving of passionfruit sorbet to clear our palette which really helped before the REAL DEAL - Wagyu beef steak. Creme brulee foie gras tasted interesting. Loved the choc lava cake too, though would prefer if there's no raspberry within. Pretty small place hence reservation is highly recommended. Ambience can be nicer but it does get cozier at night.

7 Courses 7 courses of mostly meat. Main course was disappointing as the meat cut was tough & chewy. Ok for 1for1 but doubt will go back there again.

Delicious Dinner Mid week dinner date at fat belly, ordered sauteed thyme mushroom and truffle fries for a start. Onglet and Deckle as the main dishes and Foie Gras Panna Cotta to end off the dinner. The mushrooms, personally I like it especially when there is onion mixed in them. Tasted delicious with that combination. As for the truffle fries, the amount of fries being served is generous. Here comes the main dish for the night, I ordered the wagyu deckle while my dinner date ordered Onglet both medium rareness it's just nice for us as it's not too bloody. Personally i prefer the Onglet more as its more meaty and less fatty. Well that's personal taste preference, if you like more juicy steak the deckle will suit your taste buds. The beef is being cooked over charcoal and has a charred taste, which I really like it a lot. Had Foie Gras Panna Cotta for dessert, personally I would prefer foie gras on it's own and not being an ingredient for dessert. It comes with fig sorbet with almond crumble which I like more than the Foie Gras Panna Cotta. They do have an open kitchen concept where u can watch the food being prepared and plated before it's being served to you from the bar counter seating. Reservation is a must as it is a very small restaurant and it fills up quickly after it opens for business. Do take note that they are going through a two week renovation soon, do call and check before you make a trip there. Definitely will visit again for the 7 course!
