The M Plot - 1 Big Macaron + Tea Had the Chocolate Mango Mouse and Raspberry Rose Lychee Macaron part of the Burpple 1 for 1 deals. For the tea, got the Earl Grey and Berry Tea. Overall, The Chocolate Mango Mouse was unique and interesting, definitely a taste for the chocolate lovers, 7.5/10. The Raspberry Rose Lychee Macaron similarly had a unique taste with the hint of lychee flavouring going very well with the raspberries, 9/10. The teas in general were very fragrant and nice to go along with the desserts, definitely recommend the Earl Grey. Overall the ambience of the place was nice and quiet. Despite going on a weekend, it still turned out to be quiet and very relaxing.

Box Of 6 Macarons ($20) The macarons here are of unique flavours and aren’t too sweet too. They’re always good to have when needing a sweet treat after a long day 😌 I got salted egg with curry, Thai tea, dark chocolate, pistachio, white chocolate lychee and salted caramel.

My secret indulgent food is dessert. Well, maybe not really a secret since half the time I’m posting about sweets. Arrays of these beautiful macarons that are just begging to eat, greet us when we push open the door to @the_m_plot. But big macarons caught our attention with flavours like Raspberry Lychee Rose & Chocolate Hazelnut Praline. The light floral fragrance from rose and lychee infused ganache complements the tangy raspberries! Raspberry Lychee Rose was a harmonious marriage of decadent flavour but Chocolate Hazelnut Praline was pretty well-balanced too. P.S: we managed to save with #burpplebeyond. Two big macarons along with two pot of hot tea at $13.50, it’s a super great deal! Expect quality nosh, as everything on the menu is cooked to order. For a fuss-free meal, the 3-Course Set Menu ($39.90) comes with a delicious fish tikka appetiser and two mains, including a fragrant Curry Fish and Chicken Masala in a thick and spicy sauce (best sopped up with the freshly baked naans!). Really Tasty Choices Here According to owner Souren, everything at “Butter and Spice” is cooked to order by his chef who hails from Orissa, India. We loved the aroma and flavours of all the dishes we had. And thanks to the 1-for-1 Set Meal deal I redeemed on Burpple Beyond, it saved us close to $40. After we finished our appetiser of Fish Tikka which we really liked, our two mains of Curry Fish and Chicken Masala arrived. The former was unlike the usual South Indian style and had its own unique fragrance perfumed by mustard seeds, coriander and cumin. We couldn’t help but splash a lot of that gravy on our basmati rice. If you can handle the heat, you will relish the Chicken Masala like we did. The thick, spicy sauce was so good eaten with the freshly baked naan. Dessert was the classic Indian Gulab Jamun but what made the one here stand out was the ginger I tasted in the syrup. Yums!

Fish Tikka (appetiser choice in the Burpple Beyond 3-course Set Meal) My dad and I chose this to kick off our 1-for-1 set meal, an offering on Burpple Beyond worth $39.90+. We both liked it a lot because the dory fish was cottony-soft and well-marinated. Each of us were served two large pieces of it and to accompany, a yogurt dip as well as finely-cut cucumber and raw onions.

Feasted At The Kebab Party Pop-up! Even though I had plans that night, there was no way I wouldn’t stop by the “Kebab Party” thrown by Meatsmith Little India. I mean, how often do you get to stuff your face on freshly-made, warm chickpea naan cradling different delicious fillings by Resident Chef Kurt Sombero and his Guest Chefs, right? (The correct answer is about once every 3 months but that isn’t the point here 😆). Not that it was in any way a competition but I‘d say Chef Kurt’s “Butter Chicken” resonated strongest with me. Big, tender pieces of smoky grilled meat came smothered in a kickass curry gravy rich in Indian spices, and juxtaposed by cool, crisp pickled veg - what a mouthwatering combo. That’s irrefutable proof right there again of Chef Kurt’s knack for spinning palate-dancing flavours. The Lokal’s Chef Darren Farr’s Vietnamese-inspired “Pork Banh Mi” leaned towards a lighter, cleaner taste profile with slices of the meat dressed in a pretty melange of fresh herbs and sauces. Keeping in line with Chef Darren’s style of cooking, he made everything from scratch too. I am glad I started with his creation as it allowed me to appreciate its flavours better. The third was the “Sabab” by Japanese Chef Sho Naganuma. It featured a hefty piece of spice-rubbed, grilled mackerel. T’was a rather interesting mash-up of condiments on that naan but it was the smoky fish that I was drawn to the most.

Burnt Coconut & Jackfruit Pudding/ Coconut Custard Chocolate Not a wide range of desserts but one’d probably be toooooo full so the burnt coconut & jackfruit pudding works as a sweet ending. Sugarcane meringue, a pretty interesting jackfruit custard pudding, sea coconut cubes, raspberries. Liked how the textures all came together. The coconut custard chocolate was fragrant but a tad sweet for me, those with sweet tooth will like this!

Duck Cigar ($10) Aged & smoked duck, done three ways. Also enjoyed the Duck Cigar ($10), very crisp fried spring roll skin encasing the tender pulled duck. The same savoury-sweet sauce here was a pretty good pairing too!

Butter Chicken ($18) Tender chicken chunks in a creamy, tomato-ey cashew gravy. Best enjoyed with a basket of naan for dunking — we opted for the garlic ones ($5). Got 1-for-1 with #BurppleBeyond here!

Mutton Biryani ($16) Wasn’t expecting much tbh but this was a very enjoyable biryani. Well-seasoned, fluffy basmati rice with very tender and tasty mutton chunks. Highly recommended! Best part? This was free with #BurppleBeyond!
