For a newly launched @burpplebeyond set for 2, there were 10 dishes with free-flow rice and a decanter of drink. The sheer length of this set looked impressive. It included their delicious braised pork belly and Mei Cai, sous vide Wagyu steak, burnt chilli chicken and fried chicken, Kao Rou, steamed prawns, mermaid fish with plum powder. And there was the braised cabbage with bamboo shoots that were really yummy. The meal would end with red tea jelly if there was still space in the stomach for it. It was a very comprehensive set with lots of meat, seafood and vegetables. Perfect set to sample most of the popular dishes at @thesaltedplumsg except that they weren’t of sampling sizes. In fact, we felt that this set was even good to feed 4. In summary, it was of amazing value on top of the great flavours.

Not rly worth it Food here is kinda overpriced n really oily maybe it’s the night we visited but pretty disappointed cos reviews seemed rather promising. All the food comes in $5/$10/$15 but tbh the stuff that looks good predominantly falls under the $15 section. Total bill was $73 for 2 ppl n it was Zichar so rly not worth imo
Burnt Chilli Chicken Rice Bowl ($10++) The Salted Plum is one of the more popular lunch places in the area for their value for money lunch deals on their rice bowls. The Burnt Chilli Chicken Rice Bowl is filled with generous chunks of charred chicken which packed serious heat while staying tender on the inside. I had better on other days Ordered the Casarecce with Truffle Pesto and Porcini Mushroom and Wagyu Beef Cheek with Roast Peppers. I've always like chewier pasta but the one served today was abit too hard even for me. I says today cause the previous time I came the pasta was always perrrrfectttt. The sauce was abit thick but good. The beef was practically melting in my mouth with the sauce tasting like the chinese dan gui herbs. But that's it. Had couple of Paulaner Lager as well. Full and Satisfying. Paid $68.30 in all with a burpple one for one for the mains.
Wagyu Beef Cheeks ($14++ after BB) Popped by on a Friday evening, and was really happy to see a live band playing some tunes. As per the reviews on Burpple, I ordered the hot favourite - the Wagyu Beef Cheeks for my main. The portion is humongous, this particular cow must have some huge cheeks (I wonder which ones in particular) for they were certainly sizable and very very filling. And as advertised, the meat was indeed very tender and parts easily under the knife. However, there was a strong gaminess that accompanied the meat, and that may deter those who isn’t a fan of such a flavour. I, for one, was overpowered by the umami flavour and the sauce was pretty salty as well. To quell that, id suggest pairing it with the mash and roasted peppers at the side. Fishball Bak Chor Mee - M ($8) I got the meepok w vinegar only while my lunch bud got the normal meepok (chili, vinegar & ketchup I think). Components that I liked best: soup, noodles & fishballs! Added more vinegar to my noods bc I love vinegar. A spoonful of the nicely cooked noods + garnishings (fried garlic, lard & spring onion) + mushroom was gr8. The soup is tasty, prob from the natural flavours of the ingredients (don’t think there’s MSG). Fishball didn’t have a fishy taste, tasted like the fishballs from my childhood (cc margaret drive fishball). The prawns, fishcake and pork slices were decent too, the pork slices are not the dry lean kind. My lunch bud liked the liver (I don’t like it so I gave it all to him), he said that it was cooked well, kinda like medium rare such that it’s not too rubbery. This has 1-4-1 so I’ll gladly pay $4 for this!

Another list ✅. Ah ter Teochew Fishball Noodle Bar , located at 5 Lor Telok. The springy noodle tossed with the sauce has components of homemade Chili, vinegar (not overpowering) and a bit of tomato ketchup. All components balance well. The highlight for me is the soup. The soup was tasty,flavoured and garlicky. Served with fishball, meatball, mince meat, liver, fishcake and prawn. 💰$10 📍Ah Ter Fishball Noodle Bae. 5 Lorong Telok.
Value For Money ($8 For 2 Bowls) Great mix and generous amounts of ingredients - mushrooms, and liver!! They cook it perfectly :-) The tangy mee pok’s well coated with the sauce too 🥰 Overall the vinegar taste leans toward the strong side but I like my Bar Chor Mee that way. However do expect longer waiting time during lunch crowds (1pm), as we waited about 30-45 mins after landing ourselves some seats and ordered. Atmosphere wise, the shop’s partially air-conditioned with seating arrangements good for groups of 6. If not, do prepare to share your good times and intimate conversations with strangers!
