Movers And Shakers (SGD $8) @ WAN Bar + Kitchen. . This features crisp, crunchy, medium sized pieces of deep-fried chicken skin. . Unique, because most places would choose to go with fish skin instead. I like that it's not oily, and has a tasty salty savoury flavour. . Served with a shaking bag, and a duo of seasoning powders; seaweed powder or mala spice. Pour the chicken skin into the bag, toss in the seasoning powder, and shake vigorously. . The seaweed powder lends a deep earthy sweet flavour, while the mala spice numbs the palate with its sharp fiery spicy notes. Paired with The Casanova (SGD $15) alcoholic bubble tea. . Invited tasting. . . . WAN Bar + Kitchen More details in profile & blog

Cheesy Lobster Carrot Cake (SGD $18) @ WAN Bar + Kitchen. . Our favourite dish. Delicious, hearty, good value for money, and something we would return for. . This house special creation is made to order, with medium diced cubes of soft daikon radish carrot cake, tossed with eggs, chai poh / chye poh / preserved radish bits, and studded with chunky deshelled lobster meat. . Garnished prettily with chrysanthemum flowers, green chili, and spring onions, which lend a splash of colour. . The edges are properly crisp, with a fluffy soft texture, and lovely eggy savoury salty sweet spice flavour. . Even without the lobster meat, this would be delicious on its own. Paired with the Girl Next Door (SGD $15) alcoholic bubble tea. . Invited tasting courtesy of @wan_barkitchen. . . . WAN Bar + Kitchen More details in profile & blog

Kopi O Cocktail An interesting name that caught the attention of everyone at the table. Served in that old school coffee cup, it does bring back fond memories of the past, served along with the jewel gem snack I loved so much when I was a kid. This concoction comprises of coffee infused scotch, Guinness Stout reduction foam, Cardamom Bitters and sweetened with maple syrup. Both a coffee and a cocktail, this might just be the cuppa you need after brunch. 鈦 鈦 Thanks @jekyllandhyde.sg for the hospitality, and @burpple for the invite!鈦

Lady In Red For ladies (and gentleman) who dislike alcohol for its bitter undertones, you can opt for the Lady In Red, which is a fruity concoction that is both light and refreshing. Forming the base is the Raspberry Infused Vodka and Lychee Liqueur, mixed in with Rose Syrup and Lemon Juice which balances out all that sweetness. One thing my partying days have taught me (I鈥檓 old now) is that, sweet drinks are not what it seems. It is easy to forget that there is alcohol in it, since the sweetness of the syrup seemed to have seemingly coverup the taste of alcohol, so go easy on it (of course, a glass or 2 isn鈥檛 going to give you a hangover the next day.)鈦 鈦 It comes with an 鈥榠ce cube鈥 that changes colour and quite frankly, got annoying after a while, so I turned it off. 鈦 鈦 Thanks @jekyllandhyde.sg for the hospitality, and @burpple for the invite!鈦

Made a visit to a quaint little bar called Jekyll & Hyde for the weekend and enjoyed the fantastic ambiance that they have. Definitely a great place to chill in the evenings when you just need to unwind. Plenty of interesting drinks on the menu to explore. We tried out The Go(o)d Father and their Kopi-O Fashioned. Both were really good! The former was nice and sweet, courtesy of infusing Ron Zacapa 23 Rum (Yum!) with Lagavulin 16 Single Malt and Amaretto. How can that not taste good? The Kopi-O Fashioned looked nostalgic and definitely brought out the coffeeholic in me! Coffee infused scotch with Guinness Stout reduction. Not a fan of Guinness but boy did this taste good!! Will definitely be back to try more of their offerings. Address: 49 Tras Street, Singapore 078988 Thanks @munch.app for the invitation and @jekyllandhyde.sg for having us. 馃摑馃摳@foodiejerm

Son-in-law Eggs ($7/4 Pieces). 鈥OSTED TASTING鈥 According to chef, this is one popular dish that people return for. When asked about the reason for the name of this appetizer, chef shared that it鈥檚 actually a popular Thai street food and the story goes as a mother served deep-fried eggs to her son-in-law as a reminder/warning to treat her daughter well, or his valuable bits would be in danger. Hard boiled eggs are first cooked with a precise timing such that the yolks are still runny like the ones in soft boiled eggs, and subsequently deep fried till the exterior crisp up, just like those of fried fish balls. Served with Mama鈥檚 signature chili jam, star of the dish. Processed over 8 hours, the chili jam is a creation based on sambal, less spicy but sweeter as palm sugar is used, and has a jammy texture. Caters well to those who can鈥檛 take spicy stuff, but I would have preferred the actual sambal. Thank you @burpple for the invitation and @mamasoisg for the hosting!

Grilled Pork Belly ($26++) Snag my last chance to enjoy 1 for 1 at Joo Bar and no other person to enjoy it with than my mum 馃槵 It is not difficult to understand why this place is so popular, the slightly pricey Korean small and big bites somehow works with the generous (for light drinkers) low alcoholic content Makgeolli. The above dish feels good till you stop at the salad concoction that surprises you with bites of small anchovies, an excellent well thought side.

Flaming Chick Jumeokbap ($24). Warning: this is really not for the faint-hearted nor diners with low heat tolerance. Served in a hot plate and lit with a flame torch right in front of your eyes, this flaming chick jumeokbap鈥榮 spiciness is not one to be underestimated. Spicy chicken thighs in chunks, pickled radish, shiitake mushroom, king oyster mushrooms and a ball of seaweed rice. Just as the dish was lit with fire, my tongue was too, with the dish. Thought the combination of the side ingredients especially the rice ball was a little out of place in the dish, but overall still decent taste. Perhaps they might want to consider lowering the spiciness.

At $26 for bar snacks, @joobarsg 鈥榮 LA style Black Angus kalbi is pricey and difficult to eat elegantly. But IT IS SO VERY WORTH IT. The bone-in short rib is steeped in some special soy marinade which makes it really nice and sweet and idk just amazing??? Fun Fact: The internet tells us that the 鈥淟A Kalbi / Galbi鈥 cut (which means thinly sliced across the bone) originated from Korean immigrants living in Los Angeles. And the LA stands for lateral and not Los Angeles!
