Wara Smoked Bonito @ Pixy. A creative fusion of Japanese and French influences. . This features thick cut fillets of fresh bonito fish, flash smoked over rice straws, garnished with sliced cucumber and watercress leaves. . You get the tender flaky meaty chew of the bonito fish with its deep savoury salty smoky flavour, then the fresh vegetal sweet notes of the juicy cucumbers and crunchy watercress leaves. . The dressing of miso sauce, sherry vinegar, walnut paste, and chestnut oil lends alternating notes of savoury sour earthy nutty flavours. . Contrasted by the base which features creamy dollops of yoghurt with milky sour flavour, and crunchy Japanese leeks with vegetal earthy sweet flavour. These help cut through the richness of the fish. . This dish leans more towards the French balance of taste profiles. . Invited tasting. 5-course omakase starts at SGD $100++ per person. . . . Foie Gras Flan @ Pixy. A contemporary dinner-only restaurant that serves up delicious fine-dining style Japanese French fusion. . This closely resembles the Japanese chawanmushi, except, that it's not. . The dense yet velvety soft foie gras mousse carries delicate savoury salty flavour from being slightly torched, while the vegetal earthy sweet savoury burdock root braised in home made poultry consommé lends a contrasting crunch to texture. . Luxurious creamy uni morsels round out this dish with briny salty sweet flavour. . Chef spoons more of the consommé over before serving it. Incredible burst of flavour, yet, it remains light on the palate. . Invited tasting. Seasonal 5-course Omakase priced at SGD $150++ per person. . . . Pixy More details in profile & blog

For 1-for-1 Main Dish (save ~$40) Bookmark this Jap-fusion resto-bar along Mohamed Sultan Road for fancy date nights – complete with mod-chic decor and dim lighting to suit the mood! Go for the tender and juicy Lamb Chops ($45 for one pax, $118 for sharing), which come with savoury lamb ragout and roasted vegetables. P.S. There're vegetarian options here too, like the Summer Vegetable Risotto ($25) consisting of summer vegetables simmered with Japanese rice topped with parmigiana.

mentaiko soft shell crab burger $25 // there are those days when you consume a meal that is probably equivalent to your weekly calorie intake, and today is one of them. this dish was superrrrr sinful and rich, but also very yumz!! a generous chunk of battered soft-shell crab as the patty, drenched in mentaiko sauce, topped with ikura (which gave nice pops of fish roe oil(?) with each bite, good texture!!), a slice of melted cheese and sandwiched between 2 fluffy, toasted hamburger buns!!! SO much carbs, but thankfully there was a single piece of lettuce to let me feel like i was being healthy uh (jkjk it didn’t, but have this dish anyway, it was great and u deserve a treat once in awhile!!) this restaurant is quite a hidden gem, as it is situated in a corner of south beach tower within one of their blocks, but very chilled out ambience once you enter and the service staff were prompt and efficient, which made my experience here a fond one :-)

breakfast burger The hangover burger ($22) fared much better! A single wagyu patty was accompanied by a crispy hash brown drizzled with maple syrup, a fried egg, sautéed mushrooms and the usual cheese, lettuce and tomato. The beef patty was similarly below expectations, but the variety of flavours and textures more than made up for it. Interestingly, there was a dash of hot sauce in the burger!

double trouble The Armoury Burger ($23) comprises of two wagyu patties, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato. The bacon added a dash of savouriness but the beef was a tad dry, with a flavour that was not distinct. The sauce tasted like thousand island! The bun was pretty dense but well buttered, and the fries sprinkled with paprika. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype of being a namesake burger.

🎶I like that boom boom BAO~ Them chickens jackin’ my style~🎶 If you enjoy having a Kong Bak Bao, you’re gonna have your cravings satisfied here at @mamasoisg 💯 as they offer several variations to these buns! 😍😍😍 For me, anything with a hot piping fluffy bun works! ✔ . 🔹️Braised Pork Belly Bao ($11++): features a thick slab of braised pork belly 🐖 sandwiched between soft buns, topped with coriander, crispy shallots, haus relish, crushed peanuts 🥜 & haus sauce! The cut of meat used was pretty lean which I really liked as it wasn’t overly fatty nor greasy! 👍🏻 While I would have loved the pork belly to be more succulent, I must say that it was flavourful! 😋 The crushed peanuts added an alluring nutty fragrance to every bite! 💕 . 🔹️Beef Rendang Bao ($11++): filled with a generous amount of braised beef 🐄 with burnt chili mayo 🌶 & caramelised onions, I utterly enjoyed the flavours! Very well-marinated & seasoned, the sweet-savoury taste profile really appealed to me. ❤❤❤ Would be perfect if the beef could be even more tender, but I enjoyed this nonetheless! 👍🏻 . 🔹️Bird Man’s Chicken & Cheese Bao ($11++): just who can resist fried chicken! 🍗 Chicken thigh meat is battered & fried to the perfect crisp, & that layer of savoury melted cheese 🧀 just aced it. Together with truffle mayo & crushed peanuts, this was akin to Chinese take on burgers. 👌🏻 . Personally enjoyed the first 2 more especially the Beef Rendang Bao as the braising liquid really permeates the buns, making every bite a flavourful one. 🤤🤤🤤 Would gladly settle with the mess! . 📢PROMO📢 Enjoy $5 off your dining bill when you pay at @mamasoisg with your Standard Chartered credit card, by courtesy of their collaboration with @eatigo_sg! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Fret not if you are not with SC - simply explore @eatigo_sg, a discounted reservations platform with up to 50% discounts at 650+ restaurants everyday! 😉

This is EGGactly the kind of EGGs I wanna eat! 😍😍😍 Nestled at Cuppace Terrace is @mamasoisg, a Kitchen-Bar serving up dishes with a South-East Asian flavours. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 With an al fresco seating area, it has a pleasant ambience good for winding down with a group of friends! 🍻 . Almost a staple on every table, their signature Son-in-Law Eggs ($7++) really impresses on presentation. 💯 Let’s forget about any connotation on the dish’s name & focus on the food itself! 😉 . Texture-wise, I would say that it is a cross between hard-boiled eggs & Ajitsuke Tamago (ramen egg). 🥚 Cutting through the firm egg white unveils a runny yolk that lends a nice luscious mouthfeel. 🤤🤤🤤 Liked that the eggs were greasy at all despite being deep-fried to paint that golden brown on the exterior. 👍🏻 . The highlight would have to be the accompanying mama's signature chilli jam 🌶, which gives the eggs more oomph with its slight spicy kick. 😋😋😋 Served on basil leaves & tipped with sliced chilli, this was certainly an elegant way of presenting eggs on a plate! 💕 . 📢PROMO📢 Good news for Standard Chartered credit card users! Shanghai Tang Afternoon Tea Was a pretty fun experience but the seats could have been better for a more chillax afternoon tea. Love the savoury bites over the sweet ones and our favourite is the original scone w cream cheese 😍 #foodislife #nicheats
