During the recent Chiba’s Food Special Event held at Novotel Hotel Clarke Quay, chef-owner Petrina has crafted a menu from Chiba ingredients obtained from her trip to Chiba Prefecture. . For those who are not familiar with Chiba Prefecture, it is just located adjacent to Tokyo, Japan’s capital. It is also a consumer’s paradise, a place that is home to the head offices of many businesses such as Japanese food companies. . Not forgetting the super RED and CUTE Chiba mascot CHI-BA-KUN, a curious creature born and living in Chiba Prefecture. Check him out from the side and you would see its profile shaped like the landform of Chiba Prefecture. . Check out Chef Petrina’s Special Canape Menu (Small Servings) below: . ▪️Stuffed Cabbage Rolled with minced chicken and Ang-chow sauce ▪️Hamaguri Konnyaku, served in Dashi using kombu from Chiba Kinmedai with Shiojime & Seaweed Braised Pork Belly with Chiba Shoyu and peanuts ▪️Jack Fruit Banana Cake served with Shiro-Miso White Chocolate Sauce . Read on foodgem.sg/travel/japan/chiba-prefecture . Thanks @desertingbeauty for the review.

Probably the first and only salted egg theme buffet in Singapore? To extend the popularity of their signature salted egg wok-fried slipper lobster, The Square Restaurant has thought out of the box and came up with several exciting salted egg dishes in their buffet line. For the month of July and August, fans of the golden egg will get to enjoy a limited selection of salted egg creations such as the Salted Egg Slipper Lobster, Salted Egg Mac & Cheese or take a dip in the luscious golden salted egg fountain where you can shower skewers of meat, deep fried chicken wings, fish nuggets and more in it. • The salted egg buffet is available from Sunday to Thursday from 6pm-10pm dinnertime. Prices start from $29++ for a child to $58++ for an adult. _________________ The Square Restaurant Address: 177A, River Valley Road, Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay, Level 7, Singapore 179031

For 1-for-1 Buffet (~save $60) Meat lovers, jot this one down! This meat-centric Buffet (from $42) housed in Park Hotel Alexandra serves up superb roasts in a comfy setting. While there isn't a wide variety, the salt-grilled Ana Paula Black Angus Ribeye and the succulent Spit-Roasted Chicken with Truffle are sure to satisfy. Also good is the Seafood Medley, comprising fresh prawns and squid in a tasty broth. Photo by Burppler SG Food On Foot

Beef (Dry-Aged, Slow Roasted) Finally had some time for a longer lunch, and decided to head to The Carvery to try the meat buffet. The beef and lamb was fabulous! They even had different types of sea salt that would go with the meats - charcoal, red lava sea salt, mixed spices sea salt. Personally, I liked the mixed spices sea salt the best - it went very well with the beef and gave it more texture and flavour. The service staff were prompt and alert to ensure my water was topped up; they took the time to speak with me - asking if I’ve tried their carving station and even explained how that they dry-aged their beef for approximately 2 weeks before they slow roast it, then roast it in their charcoal oven. In addition, they had 2 types of goat cheeses, which is rare for any restaurants or buffets. It may not be everyone’s top choice but I loved it So thumbs up on this! Their pork knuckle is usually for dinners; and on weekends, they would have 2 different types of beef available. This probably explains the difference in the buffet price. A buffet for the meat lovers!

They were not kidding when they said that their rotasserie chicken is their specialty. The meat was really tender and juicy, and didn't need any sauce to go with it. Rather than the variety, their quantity do shine for certain dishes such as their wood fire pizzas and bread pudding. Worth it if you get the 1 for 1 @chopesg voucher for about $50!

Blueberry Smoothies Pancake ($14) Located in the children's garden, entrance to the garden itself is near the lake and is located sorta near the parking lot so you probably wont get that botanic garden vibe. Blueberry smoothies pancame ($14)-not sure why it is called blueberry smoothesbut the color is sorta blueberry like though taste nothing like it. Despite that though, has a crusty and fluffy texture. Lemon butter was a good addition as well 4/5

Day out with the big baby to botanic garden and to Vivo city see her favorite Tsum Tsum.. FISH & CHIPS (kid's meal): 1 piece of deep-fry fish fillet with fries; big piece of fish fillet with thin layer of batter; adult meal version available; can try.. CREAMY MUSHROOM SOUP: Loads of mushroom; flavorful but not too creamy; can try.. BLUEBERRY SMOOTHIE PANCAKES: Different version of pancakes that I've tried; soft and fluffy; amazed with the yuzu in the butter that add refreshing taste to it; must-try.. NASI LEMAK: Order this as still a little hungry; taste and smell is on the dot; sambal chilli with lots of onions, not spicy; chicken wing is crispy but oily; with 3 fried fish ball; best for sharing calories; can try.. SMOKED SALMON & AVOCADO TOAST: Smoked salmon and avocado on 2 slices of open-face toast; very small portion though.. Overall a decent and filling meal in a small, open air café; portion is generally small though.. #ffthought #fishandchips #mushroomsoup #pancake #nasilemak #toast #brunch #burpple #caloriesoverload #jaslynfoodinstagram

For 1-for-1 Buffet (save ~$65.40) Jot this sumptuous buffet restaurant ($58/pax for lunch buffet, $68/pax for dinner buffet) in Crowne Plaza down for special occasions with the fam! It's quality over quantity at this joint, but there's bound to be something for everyone! From the fresh seafood spread that the folks will enjoy, to the much-raved about dessert aisle that will bowl the young ones over. Don't miss out on the tender and flavourful Whole Baked Salmon, fresh seafood on ice, and the signature Warm Chocolate Pudding. Photo by Burppler Cassie Ong

Pink Steamed Scallop Dumpling with Sliced Almond from the brand-new concert of Crystal Jade Pavilion at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. The pastel pink delicate skin and plump Australian scallops wrapped within would already draw some “wow”s. Let’s just say they are very pretty, and taste just as worthy. One pop in the mouth and you could slowly savour the moist and juicy flavours of the dumplings. These are further crowned with fragrant toasted sliced almonds. The restaurant has quite an extensive menu, check out what it has here: bit.ly/crystaljadepavilion #DFDSP

Crab “Chawanmushi” from the brand-new CJ concept Crystal Jade Pavilion. Imagine egg white elevated with the innate sweet flavours of the crab juices which blends harmoniously. The other favourite dish of mine is the Sautéed Beef Cubes with Foie Gras Sauce & Garlic. The new restaurant is located within Crowne Plaza Changi Airport which is near Terminal 3, and there is quite a range of repertoire of Crystal Jade classic dishes and modern take of Chinese dim sum and food. Worth a venture to the east, especially so if you are nearby. bit.ly/crystaljadepavilion #DFDSP

BB 1-FOR-1 // Wagyu Beef Buffet BILL: Premium dinner buffet for 2 comes up to be $148.02 after GST and service charge * Inclusive of free flow drinks and Ben & Jerry's ice cream REMARKS: * Indoor and outdoor seating available * Various types of dipping sauce * Good variety of hot and cold drinks * Cooked food such as fried rice, sushi, soba, gyoza, chicken skewers, mixed veggies * 8 flavours of Ben & Jerry's ice cream * Unsure of what is the wagyu beef grade but still a good experience trying wagyu beef dishes we never had before such as ox tongue, wagyu beef tataki and even wagyu beef tartare * Service is good; our empty ingredient plates were promptly cleared by the polite Filipino staff * We stuck to the 90-minute limit and stopped ordering and barbecuing when the time was up. We continued to sit for a while more, drinking and eating ice cream and there was no pressure from the staff for us to leave. Appreciated that. * It did get a bit gelat towards the end though * Pork cheek fillet was superrrr fatty and tough to chew * Enjoyed the wagyu beef short plate and scallops the most

Delicious but pricey Paid ~$148 (after gst n svc charge) for 2 pax for the 90 mins premium buffet. There was a decent variety of wagyu beef cuts and the wagyu was melt in your mouth yummy. Staff was pleasant and brought our orders relatively quick and were helpful in changing our grill too. Overall pleasant experience but the fact that burpple beyond basically only gives you ben & jerry's ice cream (for $3 less than their in house $59.90++/pax promo), makes the beyond deal pretty bad as compared to other restaurants. Not a true 1 for 1.

Didn’t opt for the buffet since it was our weekday work lunch hour. However the set lunch still came with buffet choice of appetizers, salad, soups, chawanmushi, small bites, dessert & drinks! So so so good deal! 🥚 I ordered Wagyu Saikoro Steak Set ($26.90) and the beef cubes though fatty but yummy. I really really love the grated radish with citrus sauce! Very very satisfyingly sour & tasty 😋 Likely to return for the bbq buffet at a more leisure dining time. Only side effect - we smelt ‘bbq’ after dining 😆 #burpple

lunch buffet this is a super underrated place!!! they have a huuuge variety of meats with many flavours, such as lychee, bak kwa and curry, that i don’t usually see in franchise kbbq outlets so that was an eye opener! furthermore their pork belly slices have a reallyy good ratio of fats! not only is the pork meat good, the chicken is tender while their beef is chewy and full of flavour. what’s more, they even make waffles for you upon request that you can pair with various ice creams, from chocolate, to blueberry ripple, and even green tea. the amazing thing is that with burpple beyond, i only paid about $15 so it really made my whole experience sooo worth 😭 rating: 8/10

Korean Fusion BBQ (Dunlop Street) 06/09/19 Time limit: 100min (I think this applies only to Eatigo users) Price: $18.60 (After 50% Eatigo discount and 10% Service Charge) Note: No GST charge at this buffet A small obscure restaurant located on the second floor of a shophouse along Dunlop Street. They had quite a wide variety of marinades for the pork belly as well as a variety of different types of meat and meat cuts. In addition to the meats were the vegetables and pineapple (Probably canned) and watermelon. There was a waffle, ice cream and cooked food station as well. On top of that, they provide free-flow drinks for an additional $2.50 nett. Otherwise, you're strongly recommended to bring your own water. While there was a decent variety of meats, I wouldn't come back again, even with the 50% discount as none of the meats were high quality and none of the marinades stood out in particular apart from perhaps, the herbal pork belly. Price: 8/10 (This is after the 50% discount) Taste: 5.5/10 Ambience: 4/10 Overall: 5.5/10 (Would not be over 5 without the 50% discount) More pictures at: https://www.instagram.com/p/B2ecO5CAAoN/?igshid=1hpgzoaqyu5ey Full review at: https://thankgodjournals.blogspot.com/2019/09/buffet-review-korean-fusion-bbq-dunlop.html
