Great Treasure! Easily One Of The Best Fish And Chips Around. ~ A Curious Tale Of The Origin Of Fish & Chips ~ 🥇 Once upon a time, after pirating and treasure hunting had reached its peak popularity and had become the Get-rich-quick 💵 vocation of every young boy, there really wasn't much treasure left buried in thick jungles or deep underwater. All the pirates were poor, and unmotivated, and worse still, most of them were stuck in the middle of an endless blue, the great vast ocean 🌊. A 👨‍🍳 chef on board one of these ships had a brilliant idea 💡 , they always hauled in lots of fish, and the crew were already sick of steamed/stewed fish. So he came up with a golden plate of treasure - the Fish and Chips. Meant to look like gold treasure, the dish was a hit among the seven seas and is now known as a good old classic. Were these pirates, no sailors, mad? Probably. But this cool crib serves the good old classic with modern sauces like the masala, and its golden. "Mad genius!", I'd say. One of the servers have very smooth hair 🧛‍♂️ too, jus' sayin.

Pesto Cream Dory Fish (Burpple Beyond 1-for-1) Trying this new place just cuz I'm in the area and cuz there's 1-for-1! ✌️ Featuring the Pesto Cream Dory Fish ($17.90), as it was the best dish! Texture of the fish was not like the usual Dory we have in Fish & Chips, it was firmer and it still had the skin on which allowed it to be crispy! The sauce had a very light Pesto taste which we cleaned off the plate with the extra fries we had. Paired the deal with the Haddock Fish & Chips ($18.90). It was okayyy... Also tried the Masala Fish & Chips ($17.90) as it seemed to be featured. This was excluded from the deal and it can stay that way, because we didn't really like it. We had a problem with the green sauce, so it was kind of weird. Overall, not super impressed with the food, but since it was right in the middle of Haji Lane, the place will get points soely because it was pretty happening!

Amazing Food, Ambience and Service The food here is great! We had Masala Fish and Chips, and Sambal Fish and Chips and it was really savoury. Had the Butter Beer as well. It reminded me of the one we had in Universal Studios. Maybe come up with a Carbonated version? Will support! The combination of the sauces were spot on with the fishes, and the fries were hand prepped, with skin still on, even though we could do with more Masala sauce on the side with the fish. Service staffs were friendly, courteous and felt welcoming throughout the entire dining experience. Location was easy to get to, and felt cozy on the second floor, with the amazing deco around the shop. Definitely will visit again! Keep up the good work guys!

Gnocchi To Another Level This blew my mind away! Looks does not do justice to this dish! Taste better than it looks! Crunchy gnocchi with tender chicken breast meat! Love how the flavours were in this dish.

Best & Strongest Coffee Can’t count the number of times I’ve come here just for their coffee - I’ve been coming here since they were Dancing Goat specialty coffee, and even now after they’ve rebranded (the coffee stayed exactly the same, still crazy good). We always get the iced white and it’s really strong and packs a punch with a ton of flavour and that caffeine kick. Truly a hole in the wall, but definitely not one to be trifled with.

My Fav Weekend Chill Out Spot Been a regular of Narrative for a few months now ever since Tong joined forces with the original couple behind Dancing Goat and I was contemplating whether to review or not because I didn’t want this place to get more crowded than it already is. But I do want them to succeed so here’s my review! I always order the dirty matcha with soy milk (not on the menu) and I love it unsweetened. The contrast between the bitter matcha, and distinct well-bodied espresso roast, is rounded off and goes great with soy milk. After much feedback, they’ve also started to become more adventurous with their baked items and this was the first weekend they baked the sticky date pudding. I taste tested it the day before, and fortunately they decided to warm up the butterscotch sauce to drizzle and serve it today. The sticky date pudding isn’t too sweet, and it’s moist plus soft. Not the best I’ve had (that would still go to PS Cafe), but it’s pretty decent and makes a nice accompaniment with their drinks.

Iced White Contains: iced white, lemon sheet cake, sticky date pudding Price: $5.50 (for the iced white) Promo: 1-for-1 on Burpple Beyond Worth Eat? 🌕YES🌕 I don’t know how to describe coffee but I know a good coffee when I taste one and this was great! It’s strong and the flavours were balanced. The pastries we had were both too dense though.

Make your Own Bowl ($6.90) Food was delicious. Will return. One carb (salad option available), one protein, 4 sides.

MIRIN SALMON BOWL Got the mirin salmon bowl for late lunch. Bought it around 1.30-2 pm, and was told that the only protein left for the bowl is only mirin salmon. And there's actually 5 choices to choose from originally. Even for the base, they've only left with 1 portion of pasta and 1 portion of soba noodles. No mashed sweet potatoes left. When I queried about other choice of main course like the unagi, it's not sure if it's available as well. When I'm told it's available, the waiting time was 20 mins. Quite disappointing about the choices left, though I understand that it's after lunch crowd, thus most of the items would be out of stock. The mirin salmon was pretty good though. Flavourful and tender. Couldn't say the same for the broccoli and carrots. Both tasted quite raw and bland. Wouldn't recommend. Sous vide egg goes well with the brown rice. I'll recommend it because it's value for money. $6.90 for a bowl with a lemon tea is a good deal. I'll advise to go early so you get your choice of protein and carbs. I may give it another try if I can beat the lunch crowd. :)

:Dual Had the otah toast & matcha espresso. Otah is not too spicy & sourdough is crispy on the edges & soft on the inside. Matcha espresso is literally matcha on top of a layer of espresso which is an interesting combination. Would like to applause them for their environmental efforts in using metal straws for their drinks 👍🏻 👏🏻

Great (but Expensive) Takeaway Coffee Incredible coffee at %Arabica. %Arabica’s flagship store is in Kyoto, but after much success they’ve quickly opened branches around the world - with the one in Singapore having opened August 2018. Their coffee is extremely high quality. The geographic origin of the beans varies by season so you’re getting tip-top premium coffee all year round. Comes at a price though. I had both a classic iced latte ($8 for small, $9 for large), and a Spanish hot latte, made with condensed milk🤤 ($7.80/8.80). Think I nearly medically-overdosed on caffeine so will come back another time to try the matcha latte (the guy after me ordered it but I decided 3 drinks for myself was excessive🍵). Also, they do have ‼️oat milk‼️ upon request!! The design of the store is very minimalist, and very instagrammable. Bright whites and sparkling clean. The baristas also give off a really cool/chic (/intimidating?) vibe. The shop is small, so would recommend grabbing coffee to go. They have a few pastry options, but no other food. . 💰: $-$$ - expensive for coffee!!! You better love and be able to appreciate premium coffee if you’re gonna cough up $8-$10 for a cup. . ⏰: 8am-8pm daily . 📍: 58 Arab Street

Cool your sunny day! It is on a very steep price for a coffee. Worth a try but not sure if I’ll be back for more.
