Matcha Fix!!!! Mad matcha craves for like 2 weeks so got my matcha fix at Hvala ☺️ . Tried the Matcha cake (~$7.80)🍵, layers of matcha cake, cream and cookie crumbs (?? Not sure if that’s what they are but seemed like it) 😋 Cake was soft and moist, and cream was slightly sweet but not losing the strong matcha taste! Crumbs were so goooood, slightly salty and adding texture to the soft cake/cream, as a matcha fan I love this sooO much 😍 . Hojicha ice blended (~$6) didn’t taste dilute or get diluted, roasted matcha taste was super evident but not bitter! . Tried the waffles on ice cream previously and didn’t really like the waffles since they were too hard and stale-ish :-( More on ig @goodfomood

For Japanese Cakes and Iced Matcha Lattes in Chijmes Probably known as the ultimate hipster tea spot, this cafe definitely holds its own when it comes to tea-centric beverages and cakes. Rich and dense, their fragrant Goma cake ($7.80) is a must try. For something less sweet, opt for the Mont Noir ($7.80), a twist on the classic mont blanc. Matcha-lovers go straight for the moist Matcha Cake in a jar ($7.80) where layers of matcha cream and crumbly matcha cake come together for a matcha overload. Wash it all down with their wonderfully silky Matcha Hojicha Latte ($6). Photo by Burppler Brewed Eats

Belgium Waffles ($8.80) The belgium waffles comes by default with a scoop of hokkaido milk or matcha gelato. The matcha is matcha no.1 though. I would definitely suggest topping up for matcha no.2/no.3 at $1/$2 respectively, because the belgium waffles themselves are sweet, so the greater intensity and bitterness of the higher level matcha gelatos balance out the sweetness better😊 I loved the tastes of the belgium waffles. Slightly sweet and buttery, but not so much of a fan of the texture, which was a little too soft for my liking Note: matcha sable crumbles and extra waffle are self add ons from the usual trio of mini waffles 😊

Fantastic Service and Yummy Food This is probably our 3rd or 4th visit here. Ordered the Steaks are high because past visits they always run out. We ordered medium rare but thought the middle of the steak was abit too rare for our liking. We left our half eaten hash browns on the plate thinking they will just sear the meat and returned the plate to us. The server was very apologetic and came to us twice that we had to wait for some time. It was a very pleasant surprise when they served us a new dish again (see picture).

Chasu Miso Pasta Finally tried the new menu item! I have to say that it surprised me more than expected. Even though it looked plain, it was indeed flavourful with a strong miso stock. The chasu was also well cooked as well! It could have been perfect if there was more sauce/stock or if miso soup was served with the pasta! Nonetheless great effort! 👍🏻

Save Your Calories Great 1 for 1 deal but not worth the calories. You'd expect a dish full of garlic to be packed with flavour, but the prawn aglio olio didn't have any of that. I'm guessing the use of pre minced garlic hence the lack of quality. However 6 prawns kinda made up for it. The Triple B came with candied bacon which I personally enjoyed and the sausages we're good too. Portions were very generous but I guess you're paying $20 for it. The fries, I'd recommend to skip or share among 3 - 4. It was too rich/salty without the slight sweetness I was expecting. I would say the coffee is really good though.

Sea Salt Caramel Coffee and Matcha Latte Good deal with 1-for-1 deal, sea salt caramel is a tad too sweet for me, but coffee is fragrant. Matcha latte was not bad. Small little cafe with fast service

Delicious Mocha! We visited Rakki Bowl today intending to try the Truffle Beef Bowls, but sadly, luck wasn’t on our side and we were informed that the truffle bowl wasn’t available. However, this turned out to be a good time to try the coffee as there wasn’t an overpowering truffle smell assaulting our senses the whole time we were there. The Cold Brew Mocha ($6.50) at Candour Coffee is simply perfect for a hot day. It’s smooth and incredibly easy to drink, with just the right amount of chocolate that you could taste the chocolate without it overpowering the whole drink. It was a very nicely blended drink overall, however the coffee wasn’t that strong, so it would be nice as a cold drink to go with your meal but probably wouldn’t be effective as a caffeine boost midday.

Days When The Truffle Bowl Isn’t Available Are Better To Savour Their Coffees We visited Rakki Bowl today intending to try the Truffle Beef Bowls, but sadly, luck wasn’t on our side and we were informed that the truffle bowl wasn’t available. However, this turned out to be a good time to try the coffee as there wasn’t an overpowering truffle smell assaulting our senses the whole time we were there. Candour Coffee offers both hot and iced versions of their sea salt caramel latte. The iced version is slightly more expensive at $6.50, but is also eligible for redemption with Burpple Beyond. Unlike the hot version, the iced beverage is served with distinctive layers and requires some mixing for optimal enjoyment. The iced version was really smooth and lovely to drink, especially on a hot day such as today. I actually enjoyed this more than the hot version, and could better appreciate the various subtle undertones in this drink. There’s a touch of saltiness with the slightly burnt aroma of the caramel, which mellows out the taste of the coffee. Overall, it’s a very pleasant drink - not strong enough to give you a caffeine boost, but good for a dose of sugar (yet it’s not overly sweet) or a beverage to cool you down on a sweltering day.
