Penang Char Kway Teow ($5.50) Aromatic "wok-hei" permeated the oodles of noodles completely. And because it was relatively grease-free, I hardly felt the twinge of guilt that usually accompanies the act of me falling face first into a plate of "char kway teow". The only thing I would change about this is the beansprouts. They could do with some fattening up.
Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup ($4.50) I have walked past here several times at night and it's always full of customers feasting on their steaming hot pots of "Malacca Satay Lok Lok". I haven't tried it for myself so I can't comment but I did have their "Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup" and it was really satisfying. They're generous with the smooth rice noodles - almost too generous in fact. And although the plentiful shredded chicken breast meat was a bit on the stringy side, all was forgiven when I sipped the soup. It was clear but full of flavour, and it had crispy bits of fried pork lard in it! Ok, anything with fried pork lard gets me beaming, so I was immediately nodding my head happily as I sucked up every drop of soup from the bowl. They also have this wonderful spicy chicken rice chilli sauce which went very well with the "hor fun" and shredded chicken. Another plus point is they are open till 2am every single night so I know where to go if I feel like having a healthy supper :)
Malacca Satay Lok Lok Located at Tanjong Katong. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall the food is just normal... Buffet price about $26.80 per adult..

Decent dim sum We had steamed char siew bao ($4.20), charcoal chicken and shrimp siew mai (~$5), shrimp and spinach dumpling (~$4) and xiaolongbao ($4.20). The skin wasn’t too thick and everything tasted good. Will be back!
In the house at Dim Sum Haus We ordered 5 dishes in total. The pan fried carrot cake with Chinese sausage was delicious and it tasted just right for us ($3.90 for 3). The mushroom dumpling ($4.50 for 3) was all right and the Xiao Long Bao ($4.20 for 3) tasted ok too. The steamed rice roll with BBQ pork was fantastic though and we enjoyed it a lot ($4.20). The baked BBQ pork pastry ($5.10 for 3) was filling too but not too heavy. We used Burpple Beyond for the steamed items (mushroom dumpling and xiao long bao).
Dim Sum Really excited to try Dim Sum Haus as I have heard many good reviews of it:) The dim sum did not disappoint! The har gau and charcoal siew mai are stuffed with big morsels of shrimp, the skin is thin and there is a good crunch to the dumplings. The pan-fried carrot cake, fried fresh beancurd skin and steamed crispy rice roll (chee cheong fun) with shrimp faired very well too - the taste and texture are on point. My favourite is steamed pork ribs with yam - the pork ribs and yam are very soft and savoury. The baked salted egg custard bun is highly raved - the exterior is crusty and a lava of sweet salted egg custard bursts out when you bite into it. It’s a little too rich for me at the end of a full meal, but this is probably a hit for fans of 流沙包. Our meal amounted to $52 for 3 pax, which is pretty reasonable even though the Burpple Beyond one-for-one discount for one dish is not much:) Do make a reservation if you are going because they are usually packed!

Assorted Dim Sum ($1.30/plate) A pretty decent dim sum offerings tucked in a buzzing coffeeshop in AMK. Everything is priced at $1.30 so don't expect out-of-the-world quality. My favourite of the lot is the deep fried yam and chee cheong fan with prawn. The pao was also pretty cheap- $1.30 for 2 pcs! Heard that they made all the dim sum in house, but not too sure about that though it's definitely better than the frozen dim sum quality. Will be back soon!
