What BTM Mussels call their take on the croque monsieur, I call a bikini sandwich. But whatever you choose to call it won’t change the fact that it’s utterly delicious. The rendition sees black truffle paste, comté, and serrano ham snuggled between 2 slices of generously buttered, well-toasted bread. Just imagine your fave ham & cheese sarnies tszujed up in a fancy-ass, but extremely elegant, black tie suit: this is it. I like how liberal they were with the butter so you get that really moist, browned butter kinda caramelised notes on the toast. Parfait 👌🏻

Curry Mussels and Fries ($36++). Last evening I visited this new restaurant along Duxton, which is serving up good mussels at very affordable prices. These aren't the usual Australian mussels that we are so used to having, these are really good seasonal Bouchot mussels from France and across Continental Europe. 🔸 BTM Mussels is inspired by owner Olivier Bendel’s restaurants at the Léon de Bruxelles group in France, where he has developed 250 recipes for mussels. At Duxton, only seven of the most popular flavours are available at one time. But they're planning to rotate the flavours, so progressively they'll be serving more of the 250 recipes they've developed. 🔸 One of the seven flavours available at the moment is Red Curry. While it has some cream in it, this flavour also included white wine and butter in its mix, and some parsley and onions. It was served with crisp golden French fries, which will also come with any mussels ordered here. 🔸 But there were some other flavours that I like more than this curry mussels. I'll share it with you next time, or you can DM me if you're going soon, and I'll tell you what to order. 🔸 [Tasting] #btmmussels #sgfood #iweeklyfood #whati8today #eatoutsg #sgfoodporn #foodpornsg #sgigfoodies #singaporeinsiders #sgeats #foodsg #singaporefood #burpple #hungrygowhere #instafood_sg #exploresingapore #foodiesg #singaporeinsiders #burpplesg #sgbakery #foodstyling #seafood #jiaklocal #pastry #frenchmussels #sgbrunch #bluemussels #brunchsg #breakfastsg

For 500g Mussels & Fries (save~$35) Get your hands dirty and your bellies filled at this spot on Duxton Hill. You're here for the small but incredibly sweet French Bouchot Mussels ($36 for 500 grams). Have them done Marinieres-style — white wine with butter, parsley and onion. Otherwise, go for the Thailandaises, a satisfyingly spicy rendition with chilli, Kaffir lime leaf, lemongrass, white wine and coconut milk. Photo by Burppler Victoria Hii

For 1-for-1 Main Dish (Weekday) (save~$15.50) This spot in Paya Lebar is great for a hearty after-work meal. Come and Create Your Own Swiss Meal (from $14.90) — choose a main, two sides and a sauce. Follow Burppler Wang Sharon's lead and pair the chicken cheese sausage with rosti, roasted vegetables, sour cream and an egg for $1. Otherwise, turn it up a notch and opt for their roasted half chicken (add on $3) as your main and pair it with spatzli, a Swiss egg pasta, that goes great with mustard sauce. Mix & Match - Chicken Cheese Sausage + Rosti + Roasted Vegetables 1-for-1 on Burpple = Double the Shiokness 🤩 👅💭: 😋 The Chicken Cheese was yummier than the Veal (+$2)! It was flavourful and had cheese oozing out with each cut..slurppsss. The rosti, Crispy yet not too oily till i feel like i have oil all over my mouth. I had it paired with sour cream (which is better than Marché’s tasteless ones) and hoped they had spammed my pan with more of it. Well, ask and you shall be given a bit more. Still doable with some rationing 😛 (i LOVE Sour Cream & go crazy with it that’s why i have to ration). The only 🙁 was the roasted vegetables were cold from the very strong AC, and i love my food HOT. So i had to gobble everything down quickly. 💸: $14.90/2 + GST +$2 for veal +$1 for rosti +$1 for 🍳 Very reasonable with the Burpple app. Definitely will maximize it as much as possible!

Meatloaf With Fried Egg The meatloaf is nice with cheese in it. The staff taking the order was great and take time to explain the different between each dishes.

Crowd pleaser Looks like you can’t go wrong with the Winestone Signature Burger ($27++). The portion was large, the wagyu patty tender, and there was a generous serving of portobello mushroom. That might be a minus if you do not enjoy mushrooms, as the taste often overshadowed the other components of the burger.

Fancy beef bolognese Ordered the ragout tagliatelle ($25++), which turned out to be a fancy beef bolognese that still isn’t the best out there :’( The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the sauce rich. However, dish felt cheap with the use of ground beef that didn’t have much bite to it. It also turned out to be jelak / fairly overwhelming about halfway through the dish. Perplexing as they are generous with the ingredients for the seafood risotto (also heavy tasting, but very much worth its price point). But worth a mention that service was good :) TL;DR you really have to love beef bolognese to enjoy this dish (which I did), but likely leave feeling cheated.

rich risotto The braised seafood risotto ($28++) was easily my favourite. The short grains had a great bite, and I was impressed with the rich seafood bisque! Every mouth was a burst of creamy flavours. The portion of seafood was extremely generous - there were crayfish, mussels, prawns and even scallops?! Each component was fresh and succulent, retaining its natural sweetness. It can get overwhelming with its strong flavours and large serving, so this is best shared. But I’ll be back for this! 🌟

Leberkäse German meatloaf that...tasted very much like American SPAM/ Asian luncheon meat. Slightly underwhelming as I’d expected pure minced meat blend and more solid “bite” to the meat loaf. That aside, it was rather flavourful (tho a tad salty and oily). I love how the restaurant allows flexibility for diners to swap their sides. Instead of potato salad, I got my favourite spatzle! As a result, this meal was kinda like Hong Kong - style brekky of noodles, luncheon and egg if you ask me!

Nürnberg sausages The boy missed the charcoal-grilled sausages we had in Germany. By comparison, it’s no where near from the best we’ve had, in our opinion. But objectively, these lil’ rolls were flavourful on their own! For sides, we went for sauerkraut and knödel, the german potato dumpling. The knödel here actually tasted way better than the ones we had in Germany (served plain). This, however, came mixed with some veggies kneaded into a dough ball and flavoured with other secret German-y seasoning. Be sure to order some 🍻 to go hand-in-hand!

Cordon Bleu (with Burpple Beyond!) Ordering was a breeze here, with highly attentive staff. My friend and I both got cordon bleu, an apple-gin concoction and a lychee martini. Drinks were pretty mild, but a great, sweet way to start the night. Food came hot and fresh; it tasted great with mustard. Unfortunately the pork was too dry, and the food felt very repetitive overtime with the constant chewing (cause too tough) and small amount of greens. Plus point would be the oozey cheese. I wouldn’t order this again though. Total bill with Burpple Beyond for 2 drinks and 2 meals came up to $77.
